Anchor for Our Souls
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.” Hebrews 6:19
The hope we have in Christ goes beyond any worldly thing we could place our hope in. It outdoes the surgeon removing the tumor, bests our carefully-laid plans for retirement, surpasses each attempt we make to reconcile with a loved one. Our hope in Jesus is as sure as an anchor when the rest of life is adrift. He is our true hope!
Our hope was ignited when God called us into His glorious light. When we were reborn in Christ, our perspective changed. We could see that our hope now rests on the realization of who He is. Even through the deepest grief, woe, and evil, we have a hope that is God-ordained, Holy Spirit-poured-out, and Jesus-bought.
Knowing this hope to which He has called us transforms us. We become people who show the light of the gospel to those around us. We wear the joy—albeit it sometimes through tears—that makes others want to know what it is that steadies our souls. With hope in Jesus, we’ll never be the same. We’ve entered a new realm that will culminate one day in the presence of our heavenly Father forever.
