Blessed Beyond Measure
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3
We know who we are as Christians, yet still the world’s influence on us is great. We’ll use the world’s standards even in spiritual matters to gauge whether we are blessed or not. Our hearts begin to believe that the measure of our physical belongings, our impressive intellect, or our visible success indicate how blessed we are. But that is not how Jesus measures blessings.
The blessings that outlast and surpass any others began when we first received Christ as our Savior. We were blind, but now we see. We were hungering and thirsting, but our longing has been satisfied. We’ve been blessed beyond measure for this life, and even more so for the life beyond this one.
Many turn to temporal things for satisfaction and may even find it for a time. But our creaturely blessings fall short of the glory of God. Fortunately, there is One we can turn to who did not fall short of the glory of God. There is One who is more precious than gold. And when we turn to Him, we find peace, hope, and “every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
