Eyes on You
“We have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.” 2 Chronicles 20:12
Do you want to know how to face the battles that confront you? Do so by honestly seeking the Lord’s help, reminding yourself that “the battle is not yours, but God’s” (v. 15). Let your praise and worship of Him go before you (see v. 21). Bring other believers to stand with you, as in the story of King Jehoshaphat. Immediately, the focus moves from “We do not know what to do,” to “Our eyes are upon God.” Completely surrendered to Him is where the Lord would have us as He accomplishes His will in our lives.
The persuasive influence of the world tells us, “You can do it. You’re in charge of your own destiny.” But what we know as believers in Jesus Christ does not sound the same. We’re to keep our focus on Him, listen to Him, and wait upon Him. At His feet, we are granted wisdom and strength. The way of the world cannot accomplish God’s will in our lives.
Read all of Jehoshaphat’s prayer (vv. 6-12). You’ll be amazed at how relevant much of it is for the battles you face. “Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you” (v. 17).
