Living by Faith
“We live by faith, not by sight … so we make it our goal to please him.” 2 Corinthians 5:7, 9
When I was growing up, I went to Sunday school and two church services on Sundays. I attended Wednesday night prayer groups, had morning and evening devotions, and took part in numerous other church-related meetings. I did all those things, yet somehow, I missed the Lord. I could check these things off my list, but still something was missing. I was not walking by faith.
As Christians, we have a new way to live, and it is by faith. We might think that if we set up rules and do not break them, that will please the Lord. He is pleased with our obedience. But truthfully, God is the One who has placed within our hearts a yearning to please Him. It is His desire that we would simply walk by faith.
I have found that life becomes less burdensome and more fulfilled when we place our trust in the Lord and live by faith. We will wear ourselves out trying to do things. We’ll be living by accomplishing rather than living by faith. Walk in His presence, leaning not on your own understanding, and see how He satisfies your heart.
