Christ, Our Peace
“He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. They will live securely …. And he will be their peace.” Micah 5:4-5
Peace is embodied in the person of Jesus Christ. He is our peace. When we turn to the Shepherd of our souls, He becomes our peace, the One who leads us tenderly to safe, verdant pastures and away from harm. We can find peace in every circumstance when we have chosen to dwell in Him.
Think about it: we live on this planet where people around the globe have longed for world peace since the beginning of time. They’ve fought for it, argued over it, and philosophized about it endlessly. Are we any nearer to achieving it? Not really. We also long for peace within our own hearts, in our own families, in our own homes. But the turmoil there is often great, marked by sleepless nights and trouble-filled days.
Christian, there is a place of rest for your soul! When we are reconciled to God, He makes it possible for us to be at peace in our daily lives. We can hear over the shout of this world’s unrest a gentle Savior saying that “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds” (Philippians 4:7) in Him.
