Everything New
“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” Revelation 21:5
Have you ever wanted a fresh start in life? We often have new students who come to our school because they need an opportunity to begin again, to make new friends, to pursue new opportunities. They hope to reinvent themselves, so to speak.
While doing so might be helpful, we must remember that we will never escape the difficulties of this life. I frequently tell families, “If you’re choosing our school in order to escape sin, you will be disappointed. Everyone who walks through the door is a sinner.” Even with fresh starts, there will be temptations, broken relationships, heartache, and failure.
The reality is that we can never truly start fresh until we enter heaven. And what a “fresh start” it will be! Revelation 21 tells us that when we enter into God’s presence, everything will be different. All sadness will be gone. “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (v. 4).
Let God’s promise of making everything new one day impact your life in the present.
