Favor in God’s Eyes

“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.”
Genesis 6:8

We spend much of our lives chasing after the approval of others. Every day in the school where I teach, I see students trying to wear the right clothes, buy the latest gear, be the funniest, or put others down just to build themselves up. But the things we pursue for our glory mean nothing in God’s eyes. His favor isn’t earned through popularity, status, or outward success. It comes through walking with Him.

Noah wasn’t righteous because he was perfect. He was righteous because he walked with God, and in doing so had found favor in God’s eyes. This wasn’t something he achieved, but something that God bestowed on him. The same is true for us today. Our righteousness comes from the grace of God, not from our achievements.

Noah wasn’t the first to walk with God. Scripture tells us that Enoch did, too. And before that, Adam walked with God in the garden. Because of the presence of the Holy Spirit, Christians also have the privilege of walking with God every day.

Are you chasing the approval of other people, or walking with the One who truly matters?
