A Useful Word
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16
In his second letter to Timothy, Paul urges his friend (and us!) to remain grounded in the Word of God. The Bible is our most valuable tool—not just parts of it, but every bit of it. That’s why Paul emphasizes that all Scripture is inspired by God and serves a purpose in teaching, correcting, and shaping us into the image of Christ. We don’t get to pick and choose which parts are useful—God intends for every word to instruct and transform us.
Yet how often do we limit our Bible reading to familiar books and passages? It’s not uncommon for Christians to spend most of their time in the New Testament. And when we open the Old Testament, we tend to stick to what we know like Psalms, Proverbs, or exciting stories. But do we truly believe that all of Scripture is useful?
As we continue studying God’s Word together this month, let’s dive into passages starting from the Old Testament to see how every part the Bible ultimately points us to Jesus and the hope we have in Him. May these transform our lives and increase our faith in Christ.
