Celebrate Forgiveness
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12
One of my spiritual practices is to end my day in prayer before I fall asleep for the night. But recently as I tried to voice what was in my heart, I felt overwhelmed. I began to go over my list of responsibilities. Then my failures and anxieties of the day stacked up in my mind. I was succumbing to worry and thoughts of more wrongs, both past and present.
However, there was a way out of the condemnation attempting to root itself in my soul. I needed to focus on the truths of Scripture that I know. Passages I remember began to trickle in, a little at a time. Soon enough, the light of Christ was breaking though the darkness in my heart. Satan had come to steal and destroy, but he’s a foe that has already been defeated by Jesus. There was no foundation for listening to his lies.
Praise God for the power of forgiveness! It sets us free. It’s not our own righteousness but Christ’s that cleanses us (see Philippians 3:9). Rest and peace of mind, body, soul, and spirit came to me as I yielded to the care of my Heavenly Father.
