Your Inheritance
“Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts …. So you are no longer a slave, but a son.” Galatians 4:6-7
Did you know that there are over 49 billion dollars of unclaimed money in the world? And apparently there are millions of missing heirs. I’m not one of them, though. I checked!
Praise God we have a greater inheritance. In Paul’s day, the first-born son was the heir. If he died, the next son would get it all. Never would a daughter be an heir. So Paul’s teaching was radical when he wrote to all believers—even women—as inheritors. We’ve been given full rights as natural-born heirs. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)
You’ve inherited equal status with Jesus. You share the “family name.” You have the same inheritance, position, and rights as Him. What belongs to Him belongs to you. There’s nothing to earn, buy, or deserve. You can draw on it even now!
“I belong to the King; I’m a child of His love,/ And He never forsaketh His own./ He will call me some day to His palace above,/ I shall dwell by His glorified throne.” (Ida L. Reed, 1896)
