Lost at the Mall
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105 “In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.” Proverbs 12:28
Have you ever gotten turned around at a mall or a parking garage? It’s disconcerting and a bit embarrassing. We had parked in the “Purple Garage” at Macy’s. But when we left, we only saw a sign for “Brown Garage.” Too proud to ask for help, we wandered around for a while until we finally asked a clerk, “Where’s the purple garage?” She replied, “I’ve never heard of the purple garage.” We explained where we parked, and she added, “Are you aware that there are two Macy’s stores in this mall?” Sure enough! We’d gotten ourselves to the wrong Macy’s! If only we had looked more closely at the mall map and figured out our route, we’d have known where to go.
The same is true in life. The “map” given to you is the Word of God. The Bible shows not only the right path to take, but also the fool’s path. “The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice” (Proverbs 12:15).
Take time to read the words of wisdom in the Bible. They light your way in a world where you can quickly get turned around and choose the wrong path altogether.
