Soggy and Squishy
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” Colossians 3:15
We arrived home from vacation, and I went downstairs to turn the water back on, only to find the carpet squishing under my feet. What a terrible feeling! Our sump pump had sprung a leak, and water had been spraying for days.
I was amazed at the saturation level of the water-logged carpeting. If it hadn’t soaked up so much water, the damage would have been even worse. Once everything was cleaned up, I thought of Scripture verses that talk about saturating our minds and hearts with the Word of God.
“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads” (Deuteronomy 11:18). “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts” (Jeremiah 31:33). Remember Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness? Each time Satan assaulted Him, Jesus’ saturation of the Word empowered Him. He was not drowned by Satan’s wiles. For Jesus, being “squishy” with the Word was powerful.
Saturate yourself with the Word of God. Like a carpet drenched with water, the Word of Christ will flood your life.
