M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
15 And David made himself houses in the City of David, and prepared a place for the Ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.
2 Then David said, “No one ought to carry the Ark of God except the Levites. For the LORD has chosen them to bear the Ark of the LORD, and to minister to Him forever.”
3 And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem to bring up the Ark of the LORD to its place which he had ordained for it.
4 And David assembled the sons of Aaron and the Levites.
5 Of the sons of Kohath were Uriel, the chief, and his brethren (one hundred twenty).
6 Of the sons of Merari were Asaiah, the chief, and his brethren (two hundred twenty).
7 Of the sons of Gershom were Joel, the chief, and his brethren (one hundred thirty).
8 Of the sons of Elizaphan were Shemaiah, the chief, and his brethren (two hundred).
9 Of the sons of Hebron were Eliel, the chief, and his brethren (eighty).
10 Of the sons of Uzziel were Amminadab, the chief, and his brethren (one hundred twelve).
11 And David called Zadok and Abiathar, the Priests. And of the Levites were Uriel, Asaiah and Joel, Shemaiah and Eliel and Amminadab.
12 And he said to them, “You are the chief fathers of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, and your brethren, and bring up the Ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it.
13 “For because you were not there at first, the LORD our God made an outburst among us. For we did not seek Him in proper order.”
14 So, the Priests and the Levites sanctified themselves, to bring up the Ark of the LORD God of Israel.
15 And the sons of the Levites bore the Ark of God upon their shoulders with the bars, as Moses had commanded, according to the Word of the LORD.
16 And David spoke to the chief of the Levites, so that they would appoint some of their brethren to sing with instruments of music, with viols and harps, and cymbals, so that they might make a sound and lift up their voice with joy.
17 So, the Levites appointed Heman, the son of Joel. And from his brethren came Asaph, the son of Berechiah. And from the sons of Merari (their brethren) came Ethan, the son of Kushaiah.
18 And with them came their brethren in the second degree: Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni, Eliab and Benaiah and Maaseiah and Mattithiah and Elipheleh and Mikneiah and Obed-Edom and Jeiel (the gatekeepers).
19 So Heman, Asaph and Ethan were singers to make a sound with cymbals of bronze,
20 and Zechariah and Aziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni and Eliab and Maaseiah and Benaiah were to make a sound with viols on Alamoth,
21 and Mattithiah and Elipheleh and Mikneiah and Obed-Edom and Jeiel and Azaziah were to make a sound with harps upon Sheminith Jenazzeah.
22 But Chenaniah, the chief of the Levites, was in charge of the music and gave instruction in the sound; for he was skillful.
23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the Ark.
24 And Shebaniah and Joshaphat and Nethanel and Amasai and Zechariah and Benaiah and Eliezer (the priests) blew with trumpets before the Ark of God. And Obed-Edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the Ark.
25 So, David and the elders of Israel and the captains of thousands went to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-Edom with joy.
26 And because God helped the Levites who bore the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD, they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
27 And David had on a linen garment, as did all the Levites who bore the Ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah who had the chief charge of the singers. And David had on a linen ephod.
28 Thus, all Israel brought up the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant with shouting and sound of cornet and with trumpets and with cymbals, making a sound with viols and with harps.
29 And when the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD came into the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked out at a window and saw King David dancing and playing. And she despised him in her heart.
2 My brothers, do not hold the faith of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with favoritism.
2 For if a man with a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly. And then, also, a poor man in rags comes in—
3 and you have respect for the one wearing the fine clothing, saying to him, “Sit here in a good place”, yet you say to the poor, “Stand over there”, or “Sit here under my footstool” —
4 are you not partial among yourselves, becoming judges of evil thoughts?
5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
6 But you have despised the poor. Do not the rich oppress you by tyranny? And do they not draw you before the judgment seats?
7 Do they not blaspheme the worthy Name after which you are named?
8 But if you fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself”, you do well.
9 But if you show favoritism, you commit sin and are rebuked by the Law as transgressors.
10 For whoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet fails in one point, he is guilty of all.
11 For He Who said, “You shall not commit adultery”, also said, “You shall not kill”. Now, though you do no adultery, if you kill you are still a transgressor of the Law.
12 So speak and so do as those who shall be judged by the Law of liberty.
13 For there shall be merciless condemnation for the one who does not show mercy. And mercy rejoices against condemnation.
14 What profit is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but has no works? Can faith save him?
15 For if a brother or a sister is naked and without daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace. Warm yourselves and fill your bellies”, what help is it if you don’t give them those things which the body needs?
17 Even so, faith - if it has no works - is dead by itself.
18 But someone might say, “You have faith, and I have works”. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. The demons also believe it, and tremble.
20 But will you understand, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not our father Abraham justified through works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
22 Do you not see that faith worked with his works? And through works was faith made perfect?
23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness”. And he was called the friend of God.
24 You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified through works when she had received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.
9 I saw the LORD standing upon the Altar. And He said, “Strike the lintel of the door, so that the posts may shake. And cut them in pieces, even the heads of them all. And I will kill the last of them with the sword. He who flees from them shall not flee away. And he who escapes from them shall not be delivered.
2 “Though they dig into Hell, there shall My hand take them. Though they climb up to Heaven, there will I bring them down.
3 “And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there. And though they are hidden from My sight in the bottom of the sea, there will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them.
4 “And although they go into captivity before their enemies, there will I command the sword, and it shall slay them. And I will set My eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.”
5 And the LORD God of Hosts shall touch the land, and it shall melt away. And all who dwell therein shall mourn. And it shall rise up wholly like a flood and shall be drowned as by the flood of Egypt.
6 He builds His steps in the heaven; and has laid the foundation of His globe of elements in the earth. He calls the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the open earth. The LORD is His Name.
7 “Are you not as the Ethiopians to me, O children of Israel?” says the LORD. “Have I not brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt; and the Philistines from Caphtor and Aram from Kir?
8 “Behold, the eyes of the LORD God are upon the sinful kingdom. And I will destroy it clean out of the Earth. Nevertheless, I will not utterly destroy the House of Jacob,” says the LORD.
9 “For lo, I will command, and I will sift the House of Israel among all nations, as in a sieve. Still, the least stone shall not fall upon the Earth.
10 “But all the sinners of My people who say, ‘The evil shall not come or hasten for us,” shall die by the sword.
11 “On that day, I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and close up the breaches thereof. And I will raise up its ruins. And I will build it, as in the days of old,
12 “that they may possess the remnant of Edom—and of all the heathen—because My Name is called upon them,” says the LORD, Who does this.
13 “Behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that the plowman shall touch the mower; and the treader of grapes him who sows seed. And the mountains shall drop sweet wine. And all the hills shall melt.
14 “And I will bring back the captives of My people of Israel. And they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them. And they shall plant vineyards and drink the wine thereof. They shall also make gardens and eat the fruits of them.
15 “And I will plant them upon their land. And no more shall they be pulled up again out of their land which I have given them,” says the LORD your God.
4 And Jesus, full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 and was tempted forty days by the devil. And in those days, He ate nothing. But after they had ended, He was hungry.
3 Then the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone, that it be made bread.”
4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread only, but by every Word of God.’”
5 Then the devil took Him up into a high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, in the twinkling of an eye.
6 And the devil said to Him, “All this power, and the glory of those kingdoms, will I give You. For that is delivered to me. And to whomever I will, I give it.
7 “Therefore, if You will worship me, they shall be all Yours.”
8 But Jesus answered him, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone You shall serve.’”
9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on a pinnacle of the Temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, cast Yourself down from here.
10 “For it is written, “He will give His angels charge over you, to keep you.
11 “And with their hands they shall lift you up, lest at any time you should dash your foot against a stone.”
12 And Jesus answered, and said to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a little season.
14 And Jesus returned (by the power of the Spirit) into Galilee. And word spread of Him throughout all the surrounding region.
15 For He taught in their synagogues and was honored by all.
16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been raised. And as was His custom, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 And the book of the Prophet Isaiah was given to Him. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written,
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poor. He has sent Me, that I should heal the brokenhearted, that I should preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind; that I should set at liberty those who are bruised,
19 and that I should preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 And He closed the book, and returned it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.
21 Then He began to say to them, “This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
22 And all bore Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth, and said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”
23 Then He said to them, “You will surely say to me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal Yourself. Whatever we have heard was done in Capernaum, do it here also in Your own country.’”
24 And He said, “Truly I say to you, no Prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 “But I tell you the truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when Heaven was shut three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land.
26 “But to none of them was Elijah sent, except to a certain widow in Zarephath, of Sidon.
27 “Also, many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the Prophet. Yet none of them was made clean, except Naaman the Syrian.”
28 When all those in the synagogue heard that, they were filled with wrath,
29 and rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led him to the edge of the hill whereupon their city was built, to cast Him over.
30 But He passed through the midst of them, and went His way,
31 and came down into Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them there on the Sabbath days.
32 And they were astonished at His doctrine. For His Word was with authority.
33 And there was a man in the synagogue who had a spirit of an unclean demon, which cried with a loud voice,
34 saying, “Oh, what have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth?! Have You come to destroy us?! I know who You are - The Holy One of God!”
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet! And come out of him!” Then the demon, throwing him in the midst of them, came out of him and did not hurt him.
36 So fear came upon them all. And they spoke among themselves, saying, “What thing is this? For He commands the foul spirits with authority and power, and they come out!”
37 And His fame spread throughout all the places of the surrounding countryside.
38 And He rose up, and came out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever, and they required Him for her.
39 Then He stood over her and rebuked the fever. And it left her. And immediately she arose and ministered to them.
40 Now at sunset, all those who had sick of diverse diseases, brought them to Him. And He laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.
41 And demons also came out of many, crying, and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” But He rebuked them and did not allow them to say that they knew Him to be the Christ.
42 And when it was day, He departed and went forth into a desert place. And the people sought Him, and came to Him, and kept Him from leaving.
43 But He said to them, “Surely I must also preach the Kingdom of God to other cities. For that is why I was sent.”
44 And He preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
