M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
5 Also the sons of Reuben, the eldest son of Israel— for he was the eldest but had defiled his father’s bed. Therefore, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, so that the genealogy is not listed by birthright.
2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and from him came the Prince. But the birthright was Joseph’s—
3 the sons of Reuben, the eldest son of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.
4 The sons of Joel were Shemaiah, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son
6 and Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria, carried away. He was a prince of the Reubenites.
7 And when his brethren in their families listed the genealogy of their generations, Jeiel and Zechariah were the chiefs,
8 And Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baal Meon.
9 Also he inhabited eastward, to the entrance of the wilderness, from the river Perath. For they had many cattle in the land of Gilead.
10 And in the days of Saul they warred with the Hagrites, who fell by their hands. And they dwelt in their tents in all the eastern parts of Gilead.
11 And the children of Gad dwelt opposite them in the land of Bashan, to Salcah.
12 Joel was the chief, and Shapham the second. But Jaanai and Shaphat were in Bashan.
13 And their brethren of the House of their fathers were Michael and Meshullam and Sheba and Jorai and Jachan and Zia and Eber (seven).
14 These are the children of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz.
15 Ahi, the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was chief of the household of their fathers.
16 And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, by their borders.
17 All these were listed by genealogies in the days of Jotham, king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, king of Israel.
18 The sons of Reuben and of Gad and of half the tribe of Manasseh, of those who were valiant men, able to bear shield and sword, and to draw a bow exercised in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred sixty, who went out to the war.
19 And they made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur and Naphish and Nodab.
20 And they were helped in fighting them. And the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them. For they cried to God in the battle, and He heard them, because they trusted in Him.
21 And they led away their cattle, their fifty thousand camels and two hundred fifty thousand sheep and two thousand donkeys, and a hundred thousand people.
22 For many fell down wounded, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their places until the Captivity.
23 And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan to Baal Hermon and Senir and to Mount Hermon. For they increased.
24 And these were the heads of the households of their fathers: Epher and Ishi and Eliel and Azriel and Jeremiah and Hodaviah and Jahdiel, strong men, valiant and famous, heads of the households of their fathers.
25 But they transgressed against the God of their fathers and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria. And he carried them away— the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh— and brought them to Halah and Habor and Hara and to the river Gozan, to this day.
6 The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

8 And Ahitub begat Zadok. And Zadok begat Ahimaaz.
9 And Ahimaaz begat Azariah. And Azariah begat Johanan.
10 And Johanan begat Azariah (it was he who was Priest in the House that Solomon built in Jerusalem).
11 And Azariah begat Amariah. And Amariah begat Ahitub.
12 And Ahitub begat Zadok. And Zadok begat Shallum.
13 And Shallum begat Hilkiah. And Hilkiah begat Azariah.
14 And Azariah begat Seraiah. And Seraiah begat Jehozadak.
15 And Jehozadak departed when the LORD carried away Judah and Jerusalem into captivity by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
16 The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
17 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei.
18 And the sons of Kohath were Amram and Izhar and Hebron and Uzziel.
19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. And these are the families of Levi, concerning their fathers:
20 of Gershon, Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,
21 Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son and Jeatherai his son.
22 The sons of Kohath were Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,
23 Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son,
24 Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son,
25 And the sons of Elkanah, Amasai, and Ahimoth.
26 Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah, Zophai his son, Nahath his son,
27 Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son.
28 And the sons of Samuel were Vasheni (the elder) then Abijah.
29 The sons of Merari were Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,
30 Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.
31 And these are they whom David appointed to sing in the House of the LORD, after the Ark had rested.
32 And they ministered before the Tabernacle (the Tabernacle of the Congregation) with singing, until Solomon had built the House of the LORD in Jerusalem. Then, they continued in their office according to their custom.
33 And these ministered with their children. Of the sons of Kohath: Heman, a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,
34 the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,
35 the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,
36 the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,
37 the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,
38 the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
39 And his brother, Asaph, stood on his right. Asaph was the son of Berachiah, the son of Shimea,
40 the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah,
41 the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,
42 the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,
43 the son of Jahath, the son of Gershon, the son of Levi.
44 And their brethren, the sons of Merari, were on the left: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,
45 The son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,
46 The son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shamer,
47 The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
48 And their brethren, the Levites, were appointed to all the service of the Tabernacle of the House of God.
49 But Aaron and his sons burnt incense upon the Altar of Burnt Offering and on the Altar of Incense, for all that there was to do in the Most Holy Place, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses, the servant of God, had commanded.
50 These are also the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,
51 Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,
52 Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,
53 Zadok his son and Ahimaaz his son.
54 And these are the dwelling places of those throughout their towns and territories, of the sons of Aaron, for the family of the Kohathites, for the lot was theirs.
55 So they gave them Hebron, in the land of Judah, and its suburbs all around it.
56 But the field of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.
57 And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah for refuge: Hebron and Libnah, with their suburbs, and Jattir and Eshtemoa, with their suburbs,
58 and Hilen with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs,
59 and Ashan and her suburbs, and Beth Shemesh and her suburbs.
60 And from the tribe of Benjamin, they gave Geba and her suburbs, and Alemeth with her suburbs, and Anathoth with her suburbs. There were thirteen cities in all, by their families.
61 And to the sons of Kohath, the remnant of the family of the tribe, they gave ten cities (by lot) from the half tribe of the half of Manasseh.
62 And to the sons of Gershon, according to their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, they gave thirteen cities.
63 To the sons of Merari, according to their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, they gave (by lot) twelve cities.
64 Thus the children of Israel gave cities (with their suburbs) to the Levites.
65 And out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, they gave these cities by lot, which they called by their names.
66 And they of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities and their territories from the tribe of Ephraim.
67 And they gave cities of refuge to them: Shechem on Mount Ephraim, and her suburbs, and Gezer and her suburbs,
68 also Jokmeam and her suburbs, and Beth Horon with her suburbs,
69 and Aijalon and her suburbs, and Gath Rimmon and her suburbs.
70 And from the half tribe of Manasseh: Aner and her suburbs, and Bileam and her suburbs, for the families of the remnant of the sons of Kohath.
71 To the sons of Gershon, from the family of the half tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan and her suburbs, and Ashtaroth with her suburbs;
72 and from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh and her suburbs, Daberath and her suburbs,
73 also Ramoth and her suburbs, and Anem with her suburbs;
74 and from the tribe of Asher: Mashal and her suburbs, and Abdon and her suburbs,
75 and Hukok and her suburbs, and Rehob and her suburbs;
76 and from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee and her suburbs, and Hammon and her suburbs, and Kirjathaim and her suburbs.
77 From the tribe of Zebulun, the rest of the children of Merari were given: Rimmon and her suburbs, Tabor and her suburbs,
78 and the other side of Jordan (by Jericho, on the east side of Jordan); from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with her suburbs, and Jahzah with her suburbs,
79 and Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs;
80 and from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, and Mahanaim with her suburbs,
81 and Heshbon with her suburbs, and Jazer with her suburbs.
10 For the law, having the shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things, can never - with those sacrifices which they offer year by year continually - sanctify those who come to it.
2 For would they not, then, have ceased to have been offered, because those who offer (once purged) would have had no more consciousness of sins?
3 But in those sacrifices, there is a remembrance of sins again every year.
4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, but a body have You prepared for Me.
6 “In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have had no pleasure.
7 “Then I said, ‘Lo, I come. In the beginning of the book it is written of Me, that I should do Your will, O God’.”
8 Previously, when He said, “Sacrifice and offering, and burnt offerings, and sin offerings, You do not desire, nor had pleasure therein (which are offered by the Law).”
9 Then He said, “Lo, I come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first, so that He may establish the second.
10 By which will we are sanctified; by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands daily, ministering, frequently offering the same sacrifice (which can never take away sins).
12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins, sits forever at the right hand of God.
13 And since that time, He waits for His enemies to be made His footstool.
14 For with one offering, He has forever consecrated those who are sanctified.
15 For the Holy Ghost also bears us witness. For after He had said before,
16 “This is the Testament that I will make to them after those days, says the Lord, ‘I will put my Laws in their heart, and I will write them in their minds.’”
17 And, “Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”
18 Now where there is remission of these things, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Seeing therefore, brothers, that by the blood of Jesus we may be bold to enter into the Holy Place,
20 By the new and living way through the veil, which He has prepared for us (that is, His flesh).
21 And seeing we have a High Priest over the house of God,
22 let us draw near with a true heart, in assurance of faith; our hearts being sprinkled clean from an evil conscience
23 and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us keep the profession of our hope without wavering. For He Who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and to good works,
25 not forsaking the fellowship that we have among ourselves (as is the manner of some). But let us exhort one another, and so much more so because you see that the Day draws near.
26 For if we sin willingly after we have received and acknowledged the Truth, sacrifice for sins no longer remains;
27 but rather a fearful expectation of judgment and violent fire, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 Anyone who ignores Moses’ Law dies without mercy upon two or three witnesses.
29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be worthy who treads the Son of God under foot, and counts the blood of the Testament (with which he was sanctified) as an unholy thing, insulting the Spirit of Grace?
30 For we know Him Who has said, “Vengeance belongs to Me. I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord shall judge His people.”
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 Now call to remembrance the days that are passed in which - after you had received light - you endured a great fight in afflictions;
33 partly while you were made a spectacle by both reproaches and afflictions and partly while you became companions of those who were so tossed to and fro.
34 For you sorrowed with me for my bonds; and also joyfully suffered the plundering of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have a better and an enduring substance in Heaven.
35 Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
36 For you need patience, so that after you have done the will of God you might receive the promise.
37 For yet a very little while and He Who shall come, will come, and will not wait.
38 For “The just shall live by faith. But if anyone withdraws himself, My soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
39 However, we are not those who withdraw into destruction, but those who follow faith to the preservation of the soul.
4 Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria; who oppress the poor, destroy the needy; and they say to their masters, “Bring, and let us drink!”
2 The LORD God has sworn by His holiness, “Lo, the days shall come upon you in which He will take you away with thorns, and your posterity with fishhooks.
3 “And you shall go out at the wall’s breaches, everyone forward. And you shall cast yourselves out of the palace,” says the LORD.
4 “Come to Bethel, and transgress; to Gilgal, and multiply transgression. And bring your sacrifices in the morning; and your riches after three years.
5 “And offer a thanksgiving of leaven; publish and proclaim the free offerings. For this you love, O children of Israel,” says the LORD God.
6 “Also, I have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and scarceness of bread in all your places. Yet, you have not returned to Me,” says the LORD.
7 “And also, I have withheld the rain from you, when there were still three months to the harvest. And I caused it to rain upon one city and have not caused it to rain upon another city. One piece was rained upon. And the piece whereupon it did not rain, withered.
8 “So, two or three cities wandered to one city to drink water. But they were not satisfied. Still, you have not returned to Me,” says the LORD.
9 “I have struck you with blight and mildew. Your great gardens and your vineyards, and your fig trees, and your olive trees, the locust devoured. Still, you have not returned to Me,” says the LORD.
10 “I have sent pestilence among you after the manner of Egypt. Your young men I have killed with the sword; and have taken away your horses. And I have made the stink of your tents to come up into your nostrils. Still, you have not returned to Me,” says the LORD.
11 “I have overthrown you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. And you were as a firebrand, plucked out of the burning. Still, you have not returned to Me,” says the LORD.
12 “Therefore, I will do this to you, O Israel. And because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.”
13 For lo, He Who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares to man what is His thought; Who makes the morning darkness, and walks upon the high places of the Earth. The LORD God of Hosts is His Name. A lamentation for the captivity of Israel.
148 Praise the LORD from the heavens! Praise Him in the high places!
2 Praise Him, all His angels! Praise Him, all His army!
3 Praise Him, Sun and Moon! Praise Him, all bright stars!
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the Name of the LORD; for He commanded, and they were created.
6 And He has established them forever and ever. He has made an ordinance which shall not pass.
7 Praise the LORD from the Earth, you dragons and all depths:
8 fire and hail, snow and vapors, stormy wind — which execute His Word —
9 mountains and all hills, fruitful trees, and all cedars,10 beasts and all cattle, creeping things and feathered birds,
11 kings of the Earth and all people, princes and all judges of the world,
12 young men and maidens, also old men and children.
13 Let them praise the Name of the LORD; for only His Name is to be exalted. His praise is above the Earth and the heavens.
14 For He has exalted the horn of His people — a praise for all His saints, for the children of Israel — a people that is near to Him. Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD.
149 Sing to the LORD a new song! Let His praise be heard in the congregation of saints.
2 Let Israel rejoice in Him Who made him; and let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.
3 Let them praise His Name with the flute. Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD has pleasure in His people. He will make the meek glorious by deliverance.
5 Let the saints be joyful with glory! Let them sing loud upon their beds.
6 Let the high acts of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hands —
7 to execute vengeance upon the heathen and corrections among the people,
8 to bind their kings in chains and their nobles with fetters of iron —
9 so that they may execute upon them the judgment that is written. This honor shall be to all His saints. Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD.
150 Praise God in His Sanctuary! Praise Him in the firmament of His power.
2 Praise Him in His mighty acts! Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
3 Praise Him in the sound of the trumpet! Praise Him upon the viol and the harp.
4 Praise Him with timbrel and flute! Praise Him with virginals and organs.
5 Praise Him with sounding cymbals! Praise Him with high sounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
