2 Kings 20

20 About that time, Hezekiah was sick to death. And the Prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, came to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Put your house in order. For you shall die, and not live.’”

Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,

“O LORD, I pray, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

And before Isaiah had gone out into the middle of the court, the Word of the LORD came to him, saying:

“Turn back and tell Hezekiah, the captain of My people, ‘Thus says the LORD God of David, your father: “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. Behold, I have healed you. On the third day, you shall go up to the House of the LORD.

“And I will add fifteen years to your days and will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and will defend this city for My own sake, and for David My servant’s sake.”’”

Then Isaiah said, “Take a lump of dry figs.” And they took it and laid it on the boil. And he recovered.

(For Hezekiah had said to Isaiah, “What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the House of the LORD on the third day?”

And Isaiah answered, “Which sign would you prefer from the LORD, that the LORD will do what He has spoken: that the shadow go forward ten degrees or go back ten degrees?”

10 And Hezekiah answered, “It is a small thing for the shadow to pass forward ten degrees. So, not that. But let the shadow go back ten degrees.”

11 And Isaiah the Prophet called to the LORD; and He brought back the shadow ten degrees by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.)

12 The same season, Berodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah was sick.

13 And Hezekiah heard them and showed them his whole treasure house: the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious ointment, the entire house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, and in all his realm, that Hezekiah did not show them.

14 Then Isaiah the Prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? And from where have they come to you?” And Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, from Babylon.”

15 Then he said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Hezekiah answered, “They have seen everything that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”

16 And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the Word of the LORD:

17 ‘Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and whatever your fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried into Babylon. Nothing shall be left,’ says the LORD,

18 ‘And they shall take away some of your sons who shall proceed out of you, which you shall beget, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

19 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The Word of the LORD which you have spoken is good.” For he said, “Is it not good if there is peace and truth in my days?”

20 Concerning the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his valiant deeds, and how he made a pool and a conduit and brought water into the city, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

21 And Hezekiah slept with his fathers. And Manasseh, his son, reigned in his place.

Hebrews 2

Therefore we ought to diligently pay attention to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we drift away.

For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense,

how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation (which at first began to be preached by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him;

God bearing witness to it both with signs and wonders, and with diverse miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to His own will)?

For He has not put the world to come (whereof we speak) in subjection to the angels.

But one in a certain place witnessed, saying, “What is man that You should be mindful of him; or the son of man that You would consider him?

“You made him a little inferior to the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor and have set him above the works of Your Hands.

“You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” And in that He has put all things in subjection under him, He left nothing that should not be subject to him. But we still do not see all things subjected to him.

But we see Jesus, who was made little inferior to the angels, crowned with glory and honor through the suffering of death. That by God’s grace He might taste death for everyone.

10 For it became Him for Whom all these things are - and by Whom all these things are (seeing that He brought many children to Glory) - that He should consecrate the Author of their salvation through afflictions.

11 For He Who sanctifies, and those who are sanctified, are all of One. Therefore, He is not ashamed to call them brothers,

12 saying, “I will declare Your Name to My brothers. In the midst of the Church I will sing praises to You.”

13 And again, “I will put My trust in Him.” And again, “Behold, here I am, and the children whom God has given Me.”

14 So then, as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he himself also took part with them, so that He might destroy (through death) him who had the power of death (namely, the Devil).

15 And that He might deliver all those who, for fear of death, were subject to bondage all their lifetime.

16 For He in no way took on the nature of angels, but He took on the seed of Abraham.

17 Therefore it was fitting for him to be made like his brothers in all things, so that He might be merciful, and a faithful High Priest in things concerning God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he suffered, and was tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.

Hosea 13

13 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel. But he has sinned in Baal and is dead.

And now they sin more and more, and have made themselves molten images of their silver, idols according to their own understanding. They were all the work of the craftsmen. They say one to another while they sacrifice a man, “Let them kiss the calves.”

Therefore, they shall be as the morning cloud and as the morning dew that passes away, as the chaff that is driven with a whirlwind out of the floor and as the smoke that goes out of the chimney.

“Yet I am the LORD your God, from the land of Egypt. And you shall know no God but Me. For there is no Savior beside Me.

“I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.

“As in their pastures, were they filled. They were filled and their hearts were exalted. Therefore, they have forgotten Me.

“And I will be to them as a lion, as a leopard on the way of Assyria.

“I will meet them as a bear that is robbed of her whelps. And I will tear open their chests. And there will I devour them like a lion. The wild beasts shall tear them.

“O Israel, one has destroyed you! But in Me is your help.

10 “I will be your King. Where is your king who would help you in all your cities, and your judges of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes’?

11 “I gave you a king in My anger. And I took him away in My wrath.

12 “The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up. His sin is hidden.

13 “The sorrows of a woman in labor shall come upon him. He is an unwise son, or else he would not stand still at the time of the breaking forth of the children.

14 “I will redeem them from the power of the grave. I will deliver them from death. O death, I will be your death! O grave, I will be your destruction! Sorrow shall be hidden from My Eyes.”

15 Though he grew up among his brethren, an East wind shall come. The wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness and dry up his vein. And his fountain shall be dried up. He shall plunder the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

Psalm 137-138

137 We sat by the rivers of Babel; and there we wept when we remembered Zion.

We hung our harps upon the willows, in the midst thereof.

Those who led us into captivity required songs and glee from us when we had hung up our harps, saying, “Sing us the songs of Zion!”

How shall we sing a song of the LORD in a strange land?

If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget,

if I do not remember you. Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not prefer Jerusalem to my chief joy.

Remember the children of Edom, O LORD, on the day of Jerusalem, who said, “Raze it! Raze it to the foundation thereof!”

O Daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed. Blessed is he who rewards you as you have served us.

Blessed is he who takes and dashes your children against the stones. A Psalm of David

138 I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will praise You.

I will worship toward Your Holy Temple, and praise Your Name, because of Your lovingkindness and for Your Truth; for You have magnified Your Name by Your Word above all things.

When I called, then You heard me and increased strength in my soul.

All the kings of the Earth shall praise You, O LORD; for they have heard the words of Your mouth.

And they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, because the Glory of the LORD is great.

For the LORD is high, yet He beholds the lowly; but He knows the proud afar off.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me. You will stretch forth Your hand upon the wrath of my enemies; and Your right hand shall save me.

The LORD will perform toward me. O LORD, Your mercy endures forever! Do not forsake the works of Your hands. To him who excels: A Psalm of David
