Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
71 In You, O LORD, I trust. Let me never be ashamed.
2 Rescue me and deliver me in Your righteousness. Incline Your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my Strong Rock, whereto I may always resort. You have given Commandment to save me; for You are my Rock, and my Fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the evil and cruel man.
5 For You are my Hope, O LORD God; my Trust from my youth.
6 I have been upheld by You from the womb. You are He Who took me out of my mother’s core. My praise shall be of You always.
34 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign. And he reigned in Jerusalem for thirty-one years.
2 And he did uprightly in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and bowed neither to the right nor to the left.
3 And in the eighth year of his reign (when he was still a child) he began to seek after the God of David, his father. And in the twelfth year, he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places and the groves and the carved images and molten images.
4 And they broke down the altars of Baal in his sight. And he had the images that were high upon them cut down. He also broke the groves and the carved images and the molten images and stamped them to powder and scattered it upon the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.
5 Also, he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem
6 and the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, up to Naphtali, with their axes, all around.
7 And when he had destroyed the altars and the groves and had broken and stamped the images into powder and had cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell upon all those who heard the word.
45 So those of the circumcision who believed (as many as had come with Peter), were astonished because the gift of the Holy Ghost was also poured out on the Gentiles.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,
47 “Can anyone forbid water, so that these who have received the Holy Ghost, as we have, should not be baptized?”
48 So he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay some days.
