Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
106 Praise the LORD because He is good; for His mercy endures forever!
2 Who can express the noble acts of the LORD, or proclaim all His praise?
3 Blessed are those who guard justice and do righteousness at all times.
4 Remember me, O LORD, with the favor of Your people. Visit me with Your salvation,
5 so that I may see the good things of Your chosen and rejoice in the joy of Your people, and glory with Your inheritance.
6 We have sinned with our Fathers. We have committed iniquity and done wickedly.
7 Our Fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt, nor did they remember the multitude of Your mercies; but they rebelled at the sea, even at the Red Sea.
8 Nevertheless, He saved them for His Name’s sake, so that He might make His power known.
9 And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; and He led them through the deep, as through the wilderness.
10 And He saved them from the adversary’s hand and delivered them from the hand of the enemy.
11 And the waters covered their oppressors. Not one of them was left.
12 Then they believed His words and sang praise to Him.
27 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the family of Manasseh, the son of Joseph (and the names of his daughters were these: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah)
2 and stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the Priest, and before the Princes, and all the assembly at the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, saying,
3 “Our father died in the wilderness. And he was not among the assembly of those who were assembled against the LORD in the company of Korah, but died in his sin and had no sons.
4 “Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family because he has no son? Give us a possession among the brothers of our father.”
5 Then Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
6 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
7 “The daughters of Zelophehad speak rightly. You shall give them a possession to inherit among their father’s brothers and shall turn the inheritance of their father to them.
8 “Also, you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall turn his inheritance to his daughter.
9 ‘And if he has no daughter, you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.
10 ‘And if he has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
11 ‘And if his father has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his next kinsman in his family. And he shall possess it. And this shall be to the children of Israel a Law of Judgment, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
33 “No one, when he has lit a candle, puts it in a private place, or under a bushel, but on a candlestick. So that those who come in may see the light.
34 “The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is sound, then your whole body is light. But if your eye is evil, then your body is dark.
35 “Take care, therefore, that the light which is in you is not darkness.
36 “Therefore, if your whole body is full of light - having no part darkness - then all shall be light (just as when a candle lights you with its brightness).”
