A Sure Way to the Father

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6

One of the trusted methods of finding pelagic (or open sea) species of fish is to look for patterns in the ocean that typically indicate sea life would be there. This includes looking for areas where water clarity is good, and where warm water meets cold water. While hardly any method is guaranteed, this one is a fairly reliable way to “read the water” in search of fish.

In man’s desire to “find God,” he can fall prey to the “trusted” methods of man-made religion, finding ways that seem reliable, but ultimately fail. Accumulating good works, meditating, taking classes … these and many other techniques may be beneficial, but they will not ultimately lead you to God.

Jesus shows us a better way. In declaring that He is the way, the truth, and the life, He tells us how to know true life, and to know God as our heavenly Father. It’s through Him! We are freed from trying to “read the signs.” Instead, we see that through our relationship with Jesus, we have a reliable path to eternal life. And that’s something worth sharing with others!

John 14:1-7

Eternal life isn’t found in reading the right signs. It’s found in a person, and His name is Jesus!
