Death on a Cross
“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:8
I had a friend who’d strike up conversations with anyone he met who wore a cross necklace. He’d say to the necklace wearer, “So what does that cross mean to you?” The answers varied greatly. To some, it was just pretty jewelry, maybe a gift from a loved one. For some, it was a lucky charm. To others, it was a reminder that God sent His Son to pay the penalty for our sins. While the emblem of the cross evokes several thoughts and feelings, there is almost no one who is unfamiliar with its connection to Jesus Christ.
The cross and Jesus are deeply intertwined.
You might not wear a cross around your neck, but you do carry its significance in your heart. You have the gift of salvation and of the Holy Spirit in you. Sometimes the Holy Spirit may nudge you to strike up conversations with strangers. If you hesitate, think of what is more important than talking to someone who needs to hear that Jesus died on the cross for them! Take time today to speak to someone who may be hurting. Your tender concern could help bring a lost soul to Christ.
