Glass Completely Full
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4
Does the glass seem “half empty” to you? Are you having a pity party? The road of self-pity worsens until you listen to God’s tender voice. In those moments, I hear Him remind me of kindhearted employers, compassionate friends, and loving family who surround me. My distress turns to praise for His many blessings over the years.
Let the Bible encourage you. Jesus referred to Scripture often, quoting from Psalms more than any other book, doing so even while He hung on the cross. If ever there was a time when the glass could be seen as “half empty,” it would have been at Calvary. But Jesus rested in the Spirit-inspired writings assuring Him (and us) that even in the depths of our despair, we’re not alone. The psalmists may have felt the weight of life’s miseries, but they always came back to the joyous testimony that God has not “hidden his face ... but has listened to [our] cry for help” (Psalm 22:24).
As you enter this Easter season, thank God that while Jesus suffered and died for us, our glass has been full to overflowing all along!
