Call to Me
“This is what the LORD says, He who made the earth …: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” Jeremiah 33:3
Can you hear it? Have you felt the gentle voice of the Spirit? Sometimes a thought occurs to me that is foreign to my usual way of thinking, and I’ll dismiss it. But if I take a moment to recall my recent prayer requests, I often discover that the strange thought is an answer to my prayer. I may have a flash of insight into a problem. Or perhaps suddenly recalling a Bible verse clarifies a troubling situation for me.
Maybe there has been a time you listened to a Sunday sermon and marveled at how it seemed to be spoken just for you. Or perhaps a friend has made a comment that hits you like a jolt of electricity, illuminating the error of your thinking.
All of these may be ways the Lord is communicating to us. His Spirit is constantly at work—in and around us. Jesus said, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working” (John 5:17). Stay familiar with His Word; may it not be forgotten under your roof. Then listen carefully to how His Word and the situations of your day are orchestrated to carry you through.
