Chasing the Wind
“Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.” Ecclesiastes 4:6
Life has a way of feeling like “chasing after the wind,” doesn’t it? Solomon experienced it centuries ago. We keep grasping for things to satisfy and fulfill, but they elude us like a spring breeze. Would we be willing to trade “handfuls” of material wealth for tranquility and peace?
These days boundaries between our work lives and our personal lives are blurring. With the advances in technology and social media, our employers, friends, and family have unlimited access to us. Exhausted people are resigning in record numbers from the lifestyle of constant connectivity, choosing to live on less income but having more time for what is important.
It’s often said that no one on his deathbed ever wishes he had spent more time at work. Rather, people at the end of their lives usually wish they had spent more time on the things that really matter.
Consider limiting your screen time. Meet with God each day. Ask Him to help you find meaning in your life, meaning that He lovingly gives to you because Jesus gave up His life for you first.
