Psalm 47

Psalm 47[a]

For the music director, by the Korahites; a psalm.

47 All you nations, clap your hands.
Shout out to God in celebration.[b]
For the Lord Most High[c] is awe-inspiring;[d]
he is the great king who rules the whole earth![e]
He subdued nations beneath us[f]
and countries[g] under our feet.
He picked out for us a special land[h]
to be a source of pride for[i] Jacob,[j] whom he loves.[k] (Selah)
God has ascended his throne[l] amid loud shouts;[m]
the Lord has ascended amid the blaring of ram’s horns.[n]
Sing to God! Sing!
Sing to our king! Sing!
For God is king of the whole earth.
Sing a well-written song.[o]
God reigns[p] over the nations.
God sits on his holy throne.
The nobles of the nations assemble,
along with the people of the God of Abraham,[q]
for God has authority over the rulers[r] of the earth.
He is highly exalted.[s]

Deuteronomy 34:1-7

The Death of Moses

34 Then Moses ascended from the rift valley plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the summit of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho.[a] The Lord showed him the whole land—Gilead to Dan, and all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the distant[b] sea, the Negev, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of date palm trees, as far as Zoar. Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’[c] I have let you see it,[d] but you will not cross over there.”

So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab as the Lord had said. He[e] buried him in the valley in the land of Moab near Beth Peor, but no one knows his exact burial place to this very day. Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dull[f] nor had his vitality[g] departed.

John 16:4-11

But I have told you these things[a] so that when their time[b] comes, you will remember that I told you about them.[c]

“I did not tell you these things from the beginning because I was with you.[d] But now I am going to the one who sent me,[e] and not one of you is asking me, ‘Where are you going?’[f] Instead your hearts are filled with sadness[g] because I have said these things to you. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate[h] will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he[i] comes, he will prove the world wrong[j] concerning sin and[k] righteousness and[l] judgment— concerning sin, because[m] they do not believe in me;[n] 10 concerning righteousness,[o] because[p] I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer; 11 and concerning judgment,[q] because[r] the ruler of this world[s] has been condemned.[t]
