Psalm 107:33-108:13

33 He [a](A)makes rivers into a [b]wilderness
And springs of water into a thirsty ground;
34 A (B)fruitful land into a (C)salt waste,
Because of the evil of those who inhabited it.
35 He (D)makes a wilderness into a pool of water
And a dry land into springs of water;
36 And there He causes the hungry to inhabit,
So that they may establish (E)an inhabited city,
37 And sow fields and (F)plant vineyards,
And produce a fruitful harvest.
38 Also He blesses them and they (G)multiply greatly,
And He (H)does not let their cattle decrease.

39 But when they (I)decrease and are (J)bowed down
Through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
40 He (K)pours contempt upon nobles
And (L)makes them wander (M)in a pathless void.
41 But He (N)sets the needy [c]securely on high away from affliction,
And (O)makes his families like a flock.
42 The (P)upright see it and are glad;
But all (Q)unrighteousness shuts its mouth.
43 Who is (R)wise? Let him keep these things,
And carefully consider the (S)lovingkindnesses of Yahweh.

He Will Tread Down Our Adversaries

A Song. A Psalm of David.

108 (T)My heart is set, O God;
I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my glory.
Awake, harp and lyre;
I will awaken the dawn!
I will give thanks to You, O Yahweh, among the peoples,
And I will sing praises to You among the nations.
For Your (U)lovingkindness is great (V)above the heavens,
And Your truth reaches to the skies.
(W)Be exalted above the heavens, O God,
And Your glory above all the earth.
(X)That Your beloved may be rescued,
Save with Your right hand, and answer me!

God has spoken in His [d]holiness:
“I will exult, I will portion out Shechem
And measure out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is the [e]helmet of My head;
(Y)Judah is My [f]scepter.
Moab is My washbowl;
Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;
Over Philistia I will make a loud shout.”

10 (Z)Who will bring me into the well-defended city?
Who [g]will lead me to Edom?
11 Have You, O God, not (AA)rejected us?
And will You, O God, not go forth with our armies?
12 Oh give us help against the adversary,
For (AB)salvation [h]by man is worthless.
13 [i]Through God we shall do valiantly,
And (AC)it is He who will tread down our adversaries.

Psalm 33

Yahweh Is Our Help and Our Shield

33 (A)Sing for joy in Yahweh, O righteous ones;
Praise is (B)becoming to the upright.
Give thanks to Yahweh with the (C)lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a (D)harp of ten strings.
Sing to Him a (E)new song;
Play skillfully with (F)a loud shout.
For the word of Yahweh (G)is upright,
And all His work is done (H)in faithfulness.
He (I)loves righteousness and justice;
The (J)earth is full of the lovingkindness of Yahweh.

By the (K)word of Yahweh the heavens were made,
And (L)by the breath of His mouth (M)all their host.
He gathers the (N)waters of the sea [a]as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
Let (O)all the earth fear Yahweh;
Let all the inhabitants of the world (P)stand in awe of Him.
For (Q)He spoke, and it was;
He commanded, and it [b]stood.
10 Yahweh (R)nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the thoughts of the peoples.
11 The (S)counsel of Yahweh stands forever,
The (T)thoughts of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the (U)nation whose God is Yahweh,
The people whom He has (V)chosen for His own inheritance.

13 Yahweh (W)looks from heaven;
He (X)sees all the sons of men;
14 From (Y)the place of His habitation He gazes
On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who (Z)forms [c]the hearts of them all,
He who (AA)understands all their works.
16 (AB)The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A (AC)horse is a false hope for salvation;
Nor does it provide escape to anyone by its great strength.

18 Behold, (AD)the eye of Yahweh is on those who fear Him,
On those who (AE)wait for His lovingkindness,
19 To (AF)deliver their soul from death
And to keep them alive (AG)in famine.
20 Our soul (AH)is patient for Yahweh;
He is our (AI)help and our shield.
21 For our (AJ)heart is glad in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
22 Let Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, be upon us,
As we wait for You.

Exodus 2:23-3:15

God Hears Israel’s Groaning

23 Now it happened in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel (A)sighed because of the slavery, and they cried out; and (B)their cry for help because of their slavery rose up to God. 24 So (C)God heard their groaning; and God remembered (D)His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 25 (E)And God saw the sons of Israel, and God knew them.

God Calls Moses at the Burning Bush

Now Moses was pasturing the flock of (F)Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the [a]west side of the wilderness and came to (G)Horeb, the (H)mountain of God. (I)And the angel of [b]Yahweh appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of the (J)bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. So Moses said, “[c](K)I must turn aside now and see this [d]marvelous sight. Why is the bush not burned up?” And Yahweh saw that he turned aside to look, so (L)God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here. (M)Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said also, “(N)I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” (O)Then Moses hid his face, for he was (P)afraid to look at God.

And Yahweh said, “I have surely (Q)seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sufferings. So I have come down (R)to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up from that land to a (S)good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of (T)the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. So now, behold, (U)the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, come and I will send you to Pharaoh, (V)and so you shall bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “(W)Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 And He said, “Certainly (X)I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: (Y)when you have brought the people out of Egypt, (Z)you shall [e]serve God at this mountain.”

13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am about to come to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ And they will say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” 14 And God said to Moses, “[f](AA)I AM WHO [g]I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘[h]I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 And God furthermore said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘(AB)Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My (AC)memorial-name from generation to generation.

1 Corinthians 13

The Excellence of Love

13 If I speak with the (A)tongues of men and of (B)angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a (C)clanging cymbal. And if I have the gift of (D)prophecy, and know all (E)mysteries and all (F)knowledge; and if I have (G)all faith, so as to (H)remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I (I)give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I (J)surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

Love (K)is patient, love is kind, (L)is not jealous, does not brag, is not (M)puffed up; it does not act unbecomingly, (N)does not seek its own, is not provoked, (O)does not take into account a wrong suffered; (P)it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but (Q)rejoices with the truth; [b](R)it bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails, but if there are gifts of [c](S)prophecy, they will be done away; if there are (T)tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we (U)know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the [d]perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child. When I [e]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we (V)see in a mirror [f]dimly, but then (W)face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also (X)have been fully known. 13 But now abide faith, hope, love—these three; but the [g]greatest of these is (Y)love.

Mark 9:14-29

I Believe, Help My Unbelief

14 (A)And when they came back to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them. 15 And immediately, when the entire crowd saw Him, they were (B)amazed. And as they ran up, they were greeting Him. 16 And He asked them, “What are you arguing with them?” 17 And one of the crowd answered Him, “Teacher, I brought You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute; 18 and [a]whenever it seizes him, it [b]slams him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth and [c]becomes rigid. I told Your disciples to cast it out, and they could not do it.” 19 And He *answered them and *said, “O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me!” 20 And they brought [d]the boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around, foaming at the mouth. 21 And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. 22 And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” 23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ (C)All things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the boy’s father cried out and was saying, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” 25 Now when Jesus saw that (D)a crowd was [e]rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, [f]I command you, come out of him and do not enter him [g]again.” 26 And after crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and the boy became so much like a corpse that most of them said, “He is dead!” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him; and he stood up. 28 And when He came (E)into the house, His disciples began questioning Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 And He said to them, “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer.”
