2 Corinthians 3:10
Print
For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
For verily that which hath been made glorious hath not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasseth.
Indeed, what had glory [the Law], in this case no longer has glory because of the glory that surpasses it [the gospel].
Indeed, in view of this fact, what once had splendor [the glory of the Law in the face of Moses] has come to have no splendor at all, because of the overwhelming glory that exceeds and excels it [the glory of the Gospel in the face of Jesus Christ].
For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
In fact, what had been glorious is not glorious now by comparison because of the glory that surpasses it.
In fact, what was glorious isn’t glorious now, because of the glory that is brighter.
In fact, by comparison with this greater glory, what was made glorious before has no glory now.
In fact, the new agreement is so wonderful that the Law is no longer glorious at all.
For also that [which was] glorified is not glorified in this respect, on account of the surpassing glory.
For indeed the [ministry of the letter] having been glorified has not been glorified in this respect— because of the surpassing glory!
For even that which was glorious in this part was not glorified, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
That old agreement had glory. But it really loses its glory when it is compared to the much greater glory of the new agreement.
The old agreement was great and powerful at one time. But now God's new agreement has come in its place. The great power of the new agreement shows that the old agreement is no longer powerful.
In fact, in this case, what was glorious is no longer very glorious, because of the greater glory of that which surpasses it.
Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
For that which had glory [C the law] ·really loses its glory [L has no glory] when it is compared to the much greater glory [C the new way through the Spirit].
For even that which was glorified, was not glorified in this point, that is, as touching the exceeding glory.
In fact, the ministry that brings punishment lost its glory because of the superior glory of the other ministry.
We may say that because of the far brighter glory now the glory that was so bright in the past is gone.
In fact, what had been glorious is not glorious now by comparison because of the glory that surpasses it.
That old law had glory. But it really loses its glory when it is compared to the much greater glory of this new way.
In fact, that which once had glory lost its glory, because the other glory surpassed it.
The administration of the Law which was engraved in stone (and which led in fact to spiritual death) was so magnificent that the Israelites were unable to look unflinchingly at Moses’ face, for it was alight with heavenly splendour. Now if the old administration held such heavenly, even though transitory, splendour, can we not see what a much more glorious thing is the new administration of the Spirit of life? If to administer a system which is to end in condemning men was a splendid task, how infinitely more splendid is it to administer a system which ends in making men good! And while it is true that the former temporary glory has been completely eclipsed by the latter, we do well to remember that is eclipsed simply because the present permanent plan is such a very much more glorious thing than the old.
For even that which was so glorious had no glory in this respect, in comparison with the glory that excels.
For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
For indeed what had been glorious, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it.
For indeed what had been glorified has not been glorified in this case, on account of the glory that surpasses it.
In fact, that first glory as it shone from Moses’ face is worth nothing at all in comparison with the overwhelming glory of the new agreement.
If the Government of Condemnation was impressive, how about this Government of Affirmation? Bright as that old government was, it would look downright dull alongside this new one. If that makeshift arrangement impressed us, how much more this brightly shining government installed for eternity?
Even that which was made glorious had no glory in comparison to the glory that excels.
For indeed, what had been glorious, in this case has no glory · because of the glory that surpasses it.
In fact, the ministry that brings punishment lost its glory because of the superior glory of the other ministry.
Indeed, what was endowed with glory has come to have no glory in this respect because of the glory that surpasses it.
For indeed what had glory in this case has no glory, because of the glory that surpasses it.
For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it.
Indeed, what was once glorious is now without any glory in comparison with the surpassing glory.
That old law had glory, but it really loses its glory when it is compared to the much greater glory of this new way.
For indeed, what had been glorious now has no glory because of the tremendously greater glory of what replaced it.
The glory of the old covenant is nothing compared with the far greater glory of the new.
For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory.
For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory.
For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.
The Law of Moses came with shining-greatness long ago. But that light is no longer bright. The shining-greatness of the New Way of Worship that brings us life is so much brighter.
In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way.
For without doubt, that which was there glorified is not once glorified in relation to this surpassing glory.
Indeed, what once had glory has lost its glory because of the greater glory;
Indeed, what once had glory has lost its glory because of the greater glory;
Indeed, what once had glory has lost its glory because of the greater glory;
Indeed, what once had glory has in this respect lost its glory because of the greater glory,
In fact, what used to be glorious has come in this respect to have no glory at all, because of the new glory which goes so far beyond it.
For indeed what once had kavod has lost its kavod [SHEMOT 34:29-30] on account of the surpassing kavod (glory).
For even that which was glorified was not glorified in this point: that is, regarding the exceeding glory.
Indeed, in this case, what once had splendor has come to have no splendor at all, because of the splendor that surpasses it.
Indeed, in this case, what once had splendor has come to have no splendor at all, because of the splendor that surpasses it.
For even what was glorious is not glorious in comparison to the glory that surpasses it.
In fact, what seemed to have great glory will appear entirely inglorious in the light of the greater glory of the new covenant.
For most certainly that which has been made glorious has not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasses.
The law was so bright and wonderful at first but has no light now. There is something else that is so much more bright and wonderful.
For neither that that was clear was glorified in this part for the excellent glory;
for also even that which hath been glorious, hath not been glorious -- in this respect, because of the superior glory;
