2 Corinthians 2:1
Print
But I determined this within myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
But I determined this for myself, that I would not come again to you with sorrow.
But I made up my mind not to grieve you with another painful visit.
But I definitely made up my mind not to grieve you with another painful and distressing visit.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
In fact, I made up my mind about this: I would not come to you on another painful visit.
So I decided that, for my own sake, I wouldn’t visit you again while I was upset.
So I made up my mind that I would not pay you another painful visit.
I have decided not to make my next visit with you so painful.
But I have judged this with myself, not to come back to you in grief.
For I determined this for myself: not to come to you again in grief.
But I determined this with myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.
So I decided that my next visit to you would not be another visit to make you sad.
Because of that, I decided not to visit you again at that time. I did not want to make you sad.
That is why I made up my mind that I would not make another sad visit to you.
For I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.
For I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.
So I decided that my next visit to you would not be another ·one to make you sad [painful/sorrowful one; C Paul’s first visit (1:16; 1 Cor. 16:5) had resulted in conflict, rejection, and hurt feelings].
1 He excuseth his not coming unto them, 2 and privily reprehendeth them: 4 He showeth that such is his affection towards them, 5 that he never rejoiceth but when they are merry. 6 Perceiving the adulterer (whom he commanded to be delivered up to Satan) to repent, he requesteth that they forgive him. 13 He mentioneth his going into Macedonia. But I determined thus in myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
I decided not to visit you again while I was distressed.
So I made up my mind not to come to you again to make you sad.
In fact, I made up my mind about this: I would not come to you on another painful visit.
So I decided that my next visit to you would not be another visit to make you sad.
Now I decided not to pay you another painful visit.
And I made up my mind that I would not pay you another painful visit. For what point is there in my depressing the very people who can give me such joy? The real purpose of my previous letter was in fact to save myself from being saddened by those whom I might reasonably expect to bring me joy. I have such confidence in you that my joy depends on all of you! I wrote to you in deep distress and out of a most unhappy heart (I don’t mind telling you I shed tears over that letter), not, believe me, to cause you pain but to show you how deep is my care for your welfare.
¶ But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in grief.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
But I determined this for my own sake, that I would not come to you again in sorrow.
For I have decided this for myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.
“No,” I said to myself, “I won’t do it. I’ll not make them unhappy with another painful visit.”
That’s why I decided not to make another visit that could only be painful to both of us. If by merely showing up I would put you in an embarrassingly painful position, how would you then be free to cheer and refresh me?
But I determined this for myself, that I would not come again to you in sorrow.
So I decided this within myself, not to come to you again with sorrow.
I decided not to visit you again while I was distressed.
For I decided not to come to you again in painful circumstances.
But I decided this for my own sake, that I would not come to you in sorrow again.
But I determined this for my own sake, that I would not come to you in sorrow again.
Therefore, I made up my mind not to have you endure another painful visit.
So I decided that my next visit to you would not be another one to make you sad.
So I made up my own mind not to pay you another painful visit.
So I made up my mind that I would not make another painful visit to you.
So I made up my mind that I would not make another painful visit to you.
So I made up my mind that I would not make another painful visit to you.
But I determined this within myself, that I would not come again to you in sorrow.
As I thought about it, I decided I would not come to you again. It would only make you sad.
So I decided that I would not bring you grief with another painful visit.
For by faith you stand. But I determined in myself that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
So I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit.
So I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit.
So I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit.
So I made up my mind not to make another visit that causes you grief.
You see, I settled it in my mind that I wouldn’t make you another sad visit.
For I decided this in myself: not again to come to you in agmat nefesh (grief). [1C 4:21; 2C 12:21]
But this I determined in myself: that I would not come again to you in sorrow.
For I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit.
For I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit.
So I made up my mind that I would not come to you again causing sorrow.
I finally determined that I would not come to you again for yet another agonizing visit.
But I determined this for myself, that I would not come to you again in sorrow.
I made up my mind that I would not go to visit you again if I had to make you sad.
And I ordained this [same] thing at me, that I should not come again in heaviness to you [in sorrow to you].
And I decided this to myself, not again to come in sorrow unto you,
