Version
Psalm 68:24-35

24 They[a] see your processions, O God—
the processions of my God, my king, who marches along in holy splendor.[b]
25 Singers walk in front;
musicians follow playing their stringed instruments,[c]
in the midst of young women playing tambourines.[d]
26 In your large assemblies praise God,
the Lord, in the assemblies of Israel.[e]
27 There is little Benjamin, their ruler,[f]
and the princes of Judah in their robes,[g]
along with the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.
28 God has decreed that you will be powerful.[h]
O God, you who have acted on our behalf, demonstrate your power.
29 Because of your temple in Jerusalem,[i]
kings bring tribute to you.
30 Sound your battle cry against[j] the wild beast of the reeds,[k]
and the nations that assemble like a herd of calves led by bulls.[l]
They humble themselves[m] and offer gold and silver as tribute.[n]
God[o] scatters[p] the nations that like to do battle.
31 They come with red cloth[q] from Egypt.
Ethiopia[r] voluntarily offers tribute[s] to God.
32 O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God.
Sing praises to the Lord, (Selah)
33 to the one who rides through the sky from ancient times.[t]
Look! He thunders loudly.[u]
34 Acknowledge God’s power,[v]
his sovereignty over Israel,
and the power he reveals in the skies.[w]
35 You are awe-inspiring, O God, as you emerge from your holy temple.[x]
It is the God of Israel[y] who gives the people power and strength.
God deserves praise![z]

2 Samuel 6:6-12

When they arrived at the threshing floor of Nacon,[a] Uzzah reached out and grabbed hold of[b] the ark of God,[c] because the oxen stumbled. The Lord was so furious with Uzzah,[d] he[e] killed him on the spot[f] for his negligence.[g] He died right there beside the ark of God.

David was angry because the Lord attacked[h] Uzzah; so he called that place Perez Uzzah,[i] which remains its name to this very day. David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, “How will the ark of the Lord ever come to me?” 10 So David was no longer willing to bring the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. David left it in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 11 The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months. The Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his family.[j] 12 King David was told,[k] “The Lord has blessed the family of Obed-Edom and everything he owns because of the ark of God.” So David went and joyfully brought the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David.

Acts 21:27-39

27 When the seven days were almost over,[a] the Jews from the province of Asia[b] who had seen him in the temple area[c] stirred up the whole crowd[d] and seized[e] him, 28 shouting, “Men of Israel,[f] help! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people, our law,[g] and this sanctuary![h] Furthermore[i] he has brought Greeks into the inner courts of the temple[j] and made this holy place ritually unclean!”[k] 29 (For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him previously, and[l] they assumed Paul had brought him into the inner temple courts.)[m] 30 The whole city was stirred up,[n] and the people rushed together.[o] They seized[p] Paul and dragged him out of the temple courts,[q] and immediately the doors were shut. 31 While they were trying[r] to kill him, a report[s] was sent up[t] to the commanding officer[u] of the cohort[v] that all Jerusalem was in confusion.[w] 32 He[x] immediately took[y] soldiers and centurions[z] and ran down to the crowd.[aa] When they saw[ab] the commanding officer[ac] and the soldiers, they stopped beating[ad] Paul. 33 Then the commanding officer[ae] came up and arrested[af] him and ordered him to be tied up with two chains;[ag] he[ah] then asked who he was and what[ai] he had done. 34 But some in the crowd shouted one thing, and others something else,[aj] and when the commanding officer[ak] was unable[al] to find out the truth[am] because of the disturbance,[an] he ordered Paul[ao] to be brought into the barracks.[ap] 35 When he came to the steps, Paul[aq] had to be carried[ar] by the soldiers because of the violence[as] of the mob, 36 for a crowd of people[at] followed them,[au] screaming, “Away with him!” 37 As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks,[av] he said[aw] to the commanding officer,[ax] “May I say[ay] something to you?” The officer[az] replied,[ba] “Do you know Greek?[bb] 38 Then you’re not that Egyptian who started a rebellion[bc] and led the 4,000 men of the ‘Assassins’[bd] into the wilderness[be] some time ago?”[bf] 39 Paul answered,[bg] “I am a Jew[bh] from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of an important city.[bi] Please[bj] allow me to speak to the people.”
