Psalm 25:1-9

Teach Me Your Paths

[a] Of David.

25 To you, O Lord, I (A)lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I (B)trust;
    (C)let me not be put to shame;
    (D)let not my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, (E)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
    they shall be ashamed who are (F)wantonly (G)treacherous.
(H)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
Lead me in your (I)truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.
Remember your (J)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    (K)for they have been from of old.
Remember not (L)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your (M)steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
(N)Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he (O)instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.

Ezekiel 18:5-18

“If a man is righteous and does (A)what is just and right— if he (B)does not eat upon the mountains or (C)lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, (D)does not defile his neighbour's wife (E)or approach (F)a woman in her time of menstrual impurity, (G)does not oppress anyone, but (H)restores to the debtor his pledge, (I)commits no robbery, (J)gives his bread to the hungry (K)and covers the naked with a garment, (L)does not lend at interest (M)or take any profit,[a] withholds his hand from injustice, (N)executes true justice between man and man, (O)walks in my statutes, and keeps my rules by acting faithfully—he is righteous; (P)he shall surely live, declares the Lord God.

10 “If he fathers a son who is violent, (Q)a shedder of blood, who does any of these things 11 (though he himself did none of these things), (R)who even eats upon the mountains, (S)defiles his neighbour's wife, 12 oppresses the poor and needy, (T)commits robbery, (U)does not restore the pledge, (V)lifts up his eyes to the idols, (W)commits abomination, 13 (X)lends at interest, and takes profit; shall he then live? He shall not live. He has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; (Y)his blood shall be upon himself.

14 “Now suppose this man fathers a son who sees all the sins that his father has done; he sees, and does not do likewise: 15 he does not eat upon the mountains or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbour's wife, 16 does not oppress anyone, (Z)exacts no pledge, (AA)commits no robbery, (AB)but gives his bread to the hungry (AC)and covers the naked with a garment, 17 withholds his hand from iniquity,[b] takes no interest or profit, obeys my rules, (AD)and walks in my statutes; he shall not die for his father's iniquity; (AE)he shall surely live. 18 As for his father, because he practised extortion, robbed his brother, and did what is not good among his people, (AF)behold, he shall die for his iniquity.

Acts 13:32-41

32 And we bring you the good news (A)that what God promised to the fathers, 33 (B)this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm,

(C)“‘You are my Son,
    today I have begotten you.’

34 And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, (D)(E)no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way,

“‘I will give you (F)the holy and sure blessings of David.’

35 Therefore he says also in another psalm,

(G)“‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’

36 For David, after he had (H)served the purpose of God in his own generation, (I)fell asleep and (J)was laid with his fathers and saw corruption, 37 but he whom (K)God raised up did not see corruption. 38 Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, (L)that through this man (M)forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and by him (N)everyone who believes is freed[a] from everything (O)from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. 40 Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:

41 (P)“‘Look, you scoffers,
    be astounded and perish;
for I am doing a work in your days,
    a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”
