Teach Me Your Paths

[a] Of David.

25 To you, O Lord, I (A)lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I (B)trust;
    (C)let me not be put to shame;
    (D)let not my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, (E)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
    they shall be ashamed who are (F)wantonly (G)treacherous.
(H)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
Lead me in your (I)truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.
Remember your (J)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    (K)for they have been from of old.
Remember not (L)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your (M)steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
(N)Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he (O)instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.

Ezekiel 12:17-28

17 And the word of the Lord came to me: 18 (A)“Son of man, (B)eat your bread with quaking, and drink water with trembling and with anxiety. 19 And say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord God concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: (C)They shall eat their bread with anxiety, (D)and drink water in dismay. In this way (E)her land will be stripped of all it contains, (F)on account of the violence of all those who dwell in it. 20 (G)And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

21 And the word of the Lord came to me: 22 “Son of man, (H)what is this proverb that you[a] have about the land of Israel, saying, (I)‘The days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing’? 23 Tell them therefore, ‘Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel.’ But say to them, (J)The days are near, and the fulfilment[b] of every vision. 24 (K)For there shall be no more any (L)false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. 25 For I am the Lord; I will speak (M)the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. (N)It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, (O)O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord God.”

26 And the word of the Lord came to me: 27 “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, (P)‘The vision that he sees is (Q)for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’ 28 Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: (R)None of my words will be delayed any longer, (S)but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord God.”

James 4:11-16

11 (A)Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.[a] The one who speaks against a brother or (B)judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is only (C)one lawgiver and (D)judge, he who is able to save and (E)to destroy. But (F)who are you to judge your neighbour?

Boasting About Tomorrow

13 Come now, you who say, (G)“Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For (H)you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, (I)“If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. (J)All such boasting is evil.
