Psalm 119:33-40

He

33 (A)Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes;
    and I will keep it (B)to the end.[a]
34 (C)Give me understanding, that I may keep your law
    and observe it with my whole heart.
35 (D)Lead me in the path of your commandments,
    for I (E)delight in it.
36 (F)Incline my heart to your testimonies,
    and not to (G)selfish gain!
37 (H)Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things;
    and (I)give me life in your ways.
38 (J)Confirm to your servant your promise,
    (K)that you may be feared.
39 Turn away the (L)reproach that I dread,
    for your rules are good.
40 Behold, I (M)long for your precepts;
    (N)in your righteousness give me life!

Ezekiel 33:1-6

Ezekiel Is Israel's Watchman

33 The word of the Lord came to me: (A)“Son of man, speak to (B)your people and say to them, If (C)I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their (D)watchman, and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and (E)blows the trumpet and warns the people, then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, (F)his blood shall be upon his own head. (G)He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. (H)But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, (I)that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand.

Matthew 23:29-36

29 (A)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, 30 saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 Thus you witness against yourselves that you are (B)sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 (C)Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33 You serpents, (D)you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to (E)hell? 34 (F)Therefore (G)I send you (H)prophets and wise men and (I)scribes, (J)some of whom you will kill and crucify, and (K)some you will (L)flog in your synagogues and (M)persecute from town to town, 35 so that on you may come all (N)the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent (O)Abel to the blood of (P)Zechariah the son of Barachiah,[a] whom you murdered between (Q)the sanctuary and (R)the altar. 36 Truly, I say to you, (S)all these things will come upon this generation.
