Find Your Hope in Jesus

“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.” 1 Corinthians 15:19

At the outset of the Book of Ruth, Naomi was bitter because she was hopeless, and she was hopeless because she was blind to the grace of God. She could not see the hidden hand of love behind her suffering, nor could she see the grace of God through the suffering servant, Ruth.

Friend, this is why we continually return to God’s Word. And through God’s Word, we continually return to the good, old-fashioned cross. We are not left to blindly grope our way through the wilderness world. We travel through it daily with courage for this life and infinite hope in the next. In real time, there was a man named Jesus of Nazareth who lived a perfectly obedient life. He was crucified upon a real wooden cross and buried in a real tomb.

That tomb now lies empty, and our hearts should be anything but empty as a result. Find your hope in Jesus! He is your Lord, your Savior, your friend. Hope does not come at the exclusion of grief. It does not deny the hardship of this world. It simply recognizes that the world belongs to Jesus, and so do we.
