Titus 2:1
Print
But speak thou the things which befit sound doctrine:
But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine:
But as for you, teach the things which are in agreement with sound doctrine [which produces men and women of good character whose lifestyle identifies them as true Christians].
But [as for] you, teach what is fitting and becoming to sound (wholesome) doctrine [the character and right living that identify true Christians].
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
But you are to proclaim things consistent with sound teaching.
But you should talk in a way that is consistent with sound teaching.
But you, explain what kind of behavior goes along with sound teaching.
Titus, you must teach only what is correct.
But do *thou* speak the things that become sound teaching;
But you be speaking the things which are fitting for healthy teaching—
But speak thou the things that become sound doctrine:
You, however, must tell everyone how to live in a way that agrees with the true teaching.
But as for you, Titus, you must teach people to do what is right. Teach them only the things that belong to God's true message.
But as for you, speak what is appropriate for sound doctrine.
But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
But you must tell everyone what ·to do to follow [or is consistent with] ·the true [sound; healthy] teaching.
2 He setteth out the duties of sundry persons and states, 6 and willeth him to instruct the Church in manners. 11 He draweth an argument from the end of our redemption, 12 which is, that we live godly and uprightly. But speak thou the things which become wholesome doctrine,
Tell believers to live the kind of life that goes along with accurate teachings.
But you must teach what agrees with sound doctrine.
But you must say the things that are consistent with sound teaching.
You must tell everyone what they must do to follow the true teaching.
But as for you, teach what is consistent with healthy doctrine.
Now you must tell them the sort of character which should spring from sound teaching. The old men should be temperate, serious, wise—spiritually healthy through their faith and love and patience. Similarly the old women should be reverent in their behaviour, should not make unfounded complaints and should not be over-fond of wine. They should be examples of the good life, so that the younger women may learn to love their husbands and their children, to be sensible and chaste, home-lovers, kind-hearted and willing to adapt themselves to their husbands—a good advertisement for the Christian faith. The young men, too, you should urge to take life seriously, letting your own life stand as a pattern of good living. In all your teaching show the strictest regard for truth, and show that you appreciate the seriousness of the matters you are dealing with. Your speech should be unaffected and logical, so that your opponent may feel ashamed at finding nothing in which to pick holes.
¶ But speak thou the things which are expedient unto sound doctrine,
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine.
But you, speak the things which are fitting for sound instruction.
But as for you, speak up for the right living that goes along with true Christianity.
Your job is to speak out on the things that make for solid doctrine. Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don’t want anyone looking down on God’s Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives.
But as for you, teach what is fitting of sound doctrine:
But you, speak what is fitting for healthy teaching.
Tell believers to live the kind of life that goes along with accurate teachings.
As for yourself, you must say what is consistent with sound doctrine, namely,
But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
But you must tell everyone what to do to follow the true teaching.
But as for you, communicate the behavior that goes with sound teaching.
But what you teach must agree with true teaching.
You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine:
You must teach what is right and true.
As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.
But you, teach the things that are appropriate to wholesome doctrine:
But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.
But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound instruction.
So what must you do? Just this: you must instruct people how to conduct themselves in accordance with healthy teaching.
But you, speak the things which are suitable to Moshiach’s orthodox Jewish doctrine.
But you, speak things befitting to sound doctrine -
But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine.
But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine.
But as for you, speak things that are fitting for sound instruction.
As to you, Titus: talk to them; give them a good, healthy diet of solid teaching so they will know the right way to live.
But say the things which fit sound doctrine,
But as for you, Titus, you must teach what is right.
But speak thou those things that beseem wholesome teaching; [Forsooth speak thou the things that become wholesome teaching;]
And thou -- be speaking what doth become the sound teaching;
