For if the firstfruit be holy, the whole lump is also holy; and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
And if the first-fruit is holy, so is the lump: and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the first portion [of dough offered as the first fruits] is holy, so is the whole batch; and if the root (Abraham, the patriarchs) is holy, so are the branches (the Israelites).
Now if the first handful of dough offered as the firstfruits [Abraham and the patriarchs] is consecrated (holy), so is the whole mass [the nation of Israel]; and if the root [Abraham] is consecrated (holy), so are the branches.
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
Now if the firstfruits are holy, so is the whole batch. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
But if part of a batch of dough is offered to God as holy, the whole batch of dough is holy too. If a root is holy, the branches will be holy too.
Now if the hallah offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole loaf. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If part of a batch of dough is made holy by being offered to God, then all of the dough is holy. If the roots of a tree are holy, the rest of the tree is holy too.
Now if the first-fruit [be] holy, the lump also; and if the root [be] holy, the branches also.
But if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also. And if the root is holy, the branches are also.
For if the firstfruit be holy, so is the lump also: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
If the first piece of bread is offered to God, then the whole loaf is made holy. If the roots of a tree are holy, the tree’s branches are holy too.
If you offer the first piece of bread to God, then all the bread will belong to God. If the roots of a tree belong to God, then the branches will also be his.
If the part offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole batch. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the ·first piece of bread is offered to God [L firstfruits are holy; C the dough made from the first crops harvested], then the whole ·loaf [batch; L lump of dough] is made holy. If the roots of a tree are holy, then the tree’s branches are holy too [C since Abraham and the patriarchs were God’s chosen people, so were their Jewish descendants].
For if the firstfruits be holy, so is the whole lump: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
If the first handful of dough is holy, the whole batch of dough is holy. If the root is holy, the branches are holy.
If the first piece of bread is given to God, then the whole loaf is his also; and if the roots of a tree are offered to God, the branches are his also.
Now if the firstfruits offered up are holy, so is the whole batch. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the first piece of bread is offered to God, then the whole loaf is made holy. If the roots of a tree are holy, then the tree’s branches are holy too.
If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch. If the root is holy, so are the branches.
For if their exclusion from the pale of salvation has meant the reconciliation of the rest of mankind to God, what would their inclusion mean? It would be nothing less than life from the dead! If the flour is consecrated to God so is the whole loaf, and if the roots of a tree are dedicated to God every branch will belong to him also.
For if the firstfruit is holy, so shall the rest be; and if the root is holy, so shall be the branches.
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
And if the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.
Now if the first fruits are holy, so also is the whole batch of dough, and if the root is holy, so also are the branches.
And since Abraham and the prophets are God’s people, their children will be too. For if the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be too.
Behind and underneath all this there is a holy, God-planted, God-tended root. If the primary root of the tree is holy, there’s bound to be some holy fruit. Some of the tree’s branches were pruned and you wild olive shoots were grafted in. Yet the fact that you are now fed by that rich and holy root gives you no cause to gloat over the pruned branches. Remember, you aren’t feeding the root; the root is feeding you.
If the first portion of the dough is holy, the batch is also holy. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If · the dough offered as first fruits is holy, so also is the whole lump; and if the root is holy, so also are the branches.
If the first handful of dough is holy, the whole batch of dough is holy. If the root is holy, the branches are holy.
If the firstfruits are holy, so is the whole batch of dough; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are as well.
If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.
If the firstfruits are holy, then so is the whole lump of dough. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the first piece of bread is offered to God, then the whole loaf is made holy. If the roots of a tree are holy, then the tree’s branches are holy too.
If the first portion of the dough offered is holy, then the whole batch is holy, and if the root is holy, so too are the branches.
The first handful of dough that is offered is holy. This makes all of the dough holy. If the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If the first loaf is holy, all the bread is holy. If the root is holy, all the branches are holy.
And since Abraham and the other patriarchs were holy, their descendants will also be holy—just as the entire batch of dough is holy because the portion given as an offering is holy. For if the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be, too.
For if one piece is holy, the whole lump is holy. And if the root is holy, the branches are holy also.
If the part of the dough offered as first fruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; and if the root is holy, then the branches also are holy.
