And the Jews marveled, saying, “How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?”
The Jews therefore marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
Then the Jews were perplexed. They said, “How did this man become learned [so versed in the Scriptures and theology] without formal training?”
The Jews were astonished. They said, How is it that this Man has learning [is so versed in the sacred Scriptures and in theology] when He has never studied?
And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
Astonished, the Jewish leaders asked, “He’s never been taught! How has he mastered the Law?”
The Judeans were surprised: “How does this man know so much without having studied?” they asked.
The leaders were surprised and said, “How does this man know so much? He has never been taught!”
The Jews therefore wondered, saying, How knows this [man] letters, having never learned?
Then the Jews were marveling, saying, “How does this One know writings, not having learned?”
And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?
The Jewish leaders were amazed and said, “How did this man learn so much? He never had the kind of teaching we had!”
The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?”

The people ·were amazed [marveled] and said, “This man has never studied in school. How did he learn so much?”
And the Jews marveled, saying, How knoweth this man the Scriptures, seeing that he never learned!

The Jewish authorities were greatly surprised and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never been to school?”
Then the Jews were amazed and said, “How does He know the Scriptures, since He hasn’t been trained?”
The Jews were amazed. They said, “This man has never studied in school. How did he learn so much?”
The Jewish leaders were astonished and remarked, “How can this man be so educated when he has never gone to school?”
But at the very height of the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple and began teaching. The Jews were amazed and remarked, “How does this man know all this—he has never been taught?”
And the Jews marvelled, saying, How does this man know letters, having never learned?

Then the Jews were astonished, saying, “How does this man possess knowledge, because he has not been taught?”
The Jewish leaders were surprised when they heard him. “How can he know so much when he’s never been to our schools?” they asked.
With the Feast already half over, Jesus showed up in the Temple, teaching. The Jews were impressed, but puzzled: “How does he know so much without being schooled?”
The Jews marveled, saying, “How has this Man become educated, having never been taught?”
The Jews were astonished, and they asked, “How does this man know the sacred letters, having never studied?”
The Jews were surprised and asked, “How can this man be so educated when he hasn’t gone to school?”
The Jews were amazed and said, “How does he know scripture without having studied?”
The Jews then were astonished, saying, “How has this man become learned, having never been educated?”
The people were amazed and said, “This man has never studied in school. How did he learn so much?”
Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”
The Jews there were amazed. They asked, “How did this man learn so much without being taught?”
The Jews there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”

Then the Judean leaders were amazed, saying, “How does this man know so much, having never been taught?”
Some of the Jews who heard Him were amazed at Jesus’ ability, and people questioned repeatedly: Jews: How can this man be so wise about the Hebrew Scriptures? He has never had a formal education.
The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”
The Jews were very much surprised. `How can this man know books? He never went to school.'
And the Jews wondered, and said [saying], How knoweth this man letters, since he hath not learned?
and the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters -- not having learned?'
