“Doth our law judge any man before it hear him and know what he doeth?”
Doth our law judge a man, except it first hear from himself and know what he doeth?

Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus earlier and was both a ruler and a Pharisee, spoke up. “Does our Law decide about a man’s guilt without first listening to him and finding out what he is doing?”
“Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”

Surely Torateinu (Our Torah) judges not the Man unless it hears first from the Man himself and has da’as of what he does, does it? [Dt 1:16; 17:6; Ex 23:1]
