Hebrews 12:18
For ye have not come unto the mount which might be touched and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness and darkness and tempest,
For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
For you have not come [as did the Israelites in the wilderness] to a [material] mountain that can be touched, [a mountain] that is ablaze with fire, and to gloom and darkness and a raging storm,
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
You haven’t drawn near to something that can be touched: a burning fire, darkness, shadow, a whirlwind,
For you have not come to a tangible mountain, to an ignited fire, to darkness, to murk, to a whirlwind,
You have not come to a place like Mount Sinai that can be seen and touched. There is no flaming fire or dark cloud or storm
For ye have not come to [the mount] that might be touched and was all on fire, and to obscurity, and darkness, and tempest,
For you have not come-to a mountain being touched, and a fire having been burning, and darkness and gloom and a storm,
For you are not come to a mountain that might be touched, and a burning fire, and a whirlwind, and darkness, and storm,
You have not come to a place that can be seen and touched, like the mountain the people of Israel saw, which was burning with fire and covered with darkness, gloom, and storms.
For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest
For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest
You have not come to ·a mountain [L something] that can be touched and that is burning with fire [C a description of Mount Sinai when Israel received the Law; Ex. 19:18; Deut. 4:11]. You have not come to darkness, gloom, and ·storms [a whirlwind].
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, nor unto burning fire, nor to blackness and darkness, and tempest,
You have not come to something that you can feel, to a blazing fire, to darkness, to gloom, to a storm,
You have not come, as the people of Israel came, to what you can feel, to Mount Sinai with its blazing fire, the darkness and the gloom, the storm,
For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm,
You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire. You have not come to darkness, sadness and storms.
You have not come to something that can be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, to gloom,
You have not had to approach things which your senses could experience as they did in the old days—flaming fire, black darkness, rushing wind and out of it a trumpet-blast, a voice speaking human words. So terrible was that voice that those who heard it begged and prayed that it might stop speaking, for what it had already commanded was more than they could bear—‘And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or thrust through with an arrow’. So fearful was the spectacle that Moses cried out, ‘I am exceedingly afraid and trembling’.
¶ For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched and that burned with fire nor unto blackness and darkness and tempest
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
For you have not come to something that can be touched, and to a burning fire, and to darkness, and to gloom, and to a whirlwind,
You have not had to stand face to face with terror, flaming fire, gloom, darkness, and a terrible storm as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai when God gave them his laws.
Unlike your ancestors, you didn’t come to Mount Sinai—all that volcanic blaze and earthshaking rumble—to hear God speak. The earsplitting words and soul-shaking message terrified them and they begged him to stop. When they heard the words—“If an animal touches the Mountain, it’s as good as dead”—they were afraid to move. Even Moses was terrified.
You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and storm,
For you have not come to something that can be touched, · to a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a whirlwind;
You have not come to something that you can feel, to a blazing fire, to darkness, to gloom, to a storm,
You have not approached that which could be touched and a blazing fire and gloomy darkness and storm
For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind,
You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire. You have not come to darkness, sadness, and storms.
For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwind
You haven’t come to a mountain that can be touched. You haven’t come to a mountain burning with fire. You haven’t come to darkness, gloom and storm.
You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;
You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;
For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest,
For you have not come close to a mountain that you can touch. You have not come to worship where there is burning fire and darkness and storm and wind.
You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai.
You have not come to something that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,
You have not come to something that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,
You have not come to something that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,
You have not come to something that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,
For you have not come to a Har that can be touched and to a blazing Eish and to choshech and gloom and storm,
For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,
For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,
You have not come to the place that can be touched (as Israel did at Mount Sinai)to a mountain crowned with blazing fire, darkness, gloom, and a windstorm—
For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,
You have not come to the mountain that can be touched and is burning with a big fire. You have not come to the place of darkness and night and storm.
But ye have not come [Forsooth ye have not come] to the fire able to be touched, and able to come to, and to the whirlwind, and mist, and tempest,
For ye came not near to the mount touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
