And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar,
And as they were seeking to kill him, tidings came up to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in confusion.

And as they were seeking to kill him, a representation came to the chiliarch of the band that the whole of Jerusalem was in a tumult;
And while they were seeking to kill him, a report went up to the commander of the [Roman] cohort that all Jerusalem was stirred-up—
And as they went about to kill him, it was told the tribune of the band, That all Jerusalem was in confusion.
While they were trying to kill Paul, the commander of the Roman army in Jerusalem got word that the whole city was in a state of riot.
And as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.

But as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was on an uproar.
As the people were trying to kill Paul, the officer in charge of the Roman soldiers received a report that all Jerusalem was rioting.

Without a moment’s delay he took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. When they saw the colonel and the soldiers they stopped beating Paul. The colonel came up to Paul and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he enquired who the man was and what he had been doing. Some of the crowd shouted one thing and some another, and since he could not be certain of the facts because of the shouting that was going on, the colonel ordered him to be brought to the barracks. When Paul got to the steps he was actually carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob. For the mass of the people followed, shouting, “Kill him!” Just as they were going to take him into the barracks Paul asked the colonel, “May I say something to you?”

And when they sought to slay him, it was told to the tribune of the company of knights, that all Jerusalem is confounded.
