1 Peter 1:18

For ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold, from your vain way of living which ye received by tradition from your fathers,
knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;
For you know that you were not redeemed from your useless [spiritually unproductive] way of life inherited [by tradition] from your forefathers with perishable things like silver and gold,
You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold,
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
Live in this way, knowing that you were not liberated by perishable things like silver or gold from the empty lifestyle you inherited from your ancestors.
You should be aware that the ransom paid to free you from the worthless way of life which your fathers passed on to you did not consist of anything perishable like silver or gold;
You were rescued from the useless way of life you learned from your ancestors. But you know you were not rescued by such things as silver or gold that don't last forever.
knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible [things, as] silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from [your] fathers,
knowing that you were redeemed from your futile way-of-life handed-down-from-your-fathers not with perishable things, silver or gold,
Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers:
You know that in the past the way you were living was useless. It was a way of life you learned from those who lived before you. But you were saved from that way of living. You were bought, but not with things that ruin like gold or silver.
Your ancestors lived in a way that did not make them really happy. That is the way that you learned to live as well. But now God has saved you from that way of life. You know that he has bought you for himself. He did not buy you with things that do not continue for ever, like silver or gold.
because you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, not with things that pass away, such as silver or gold,
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
[L For] You know that in the past you were living in a ·worthless [meaningless; futile; vain; Eccl. 1:2] way, a way passed down from ·the people who lived before you [your ancestors]. But you were saved [ransomed; redeemed] from that useless life. You were ·bought [ransomed; redeemed; C like a slave whose freedom was purchased by a payment], not with something that ·ruins [perishes; spoils] like silver or gold,
Knowing that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation, received by the traditions of the fathers,
Realize that you weren’t set free from the worthless life handed down to you from your ancestors by a payment of silver or gold which can be destroyed.
For you know what was paid to set you free from the worthless manner of life handed down by your ancestors. It was not something that can be destroyed, such as silver or gold;
For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from the fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
You know that in the past you were living in a worthless way. You got that way of living from the people who lived before you. But you were saved from that useless life. You were bought, but not with something that ruins like gold or silver.
For you know that it was not with perishable things like silver or gold that you have been ransomed from the worthless way of life handed down to you by your ancestors,
If you pray to a Father who judges men by their actions without the slightest favouritism, then you should spend the time of your stay here on earth with reverent fear. For you must realise all the time that you have been “ransomed” from the futile way of living passed on to you by your fathers’ traditions, not with some money payment of transient value, but by the costly shedding of blood. The price was in fact the life-blood of Christ, the unblemished and unstained lamb of sacrifice. It is true that God chose him to fulfil this part before the world was founded, but it was for your benefit that he was revealed in these last days—for you who found your faith in God through Christ. And God raised him from the dead and gave him unimaginable splendour, so that all your faith and hope might be centred in God.
knowing that ye have been ransomed from your vain conversation (which you received from your fathers), not with corruptible things like silver and gold,
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things like silver or gold from your futile conduct inherited from your forefathers,
because you know that you were redeemed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold,
God paid a ransom to save you from the impossible road to heaven which your fathers tried to take, and the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver as you very well know.
Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.
For you know that you were not redeemed from your vain way of life inherited from your fathers with perishable things, like silver or gold,
since you know that you were ransomed from the empty way of life handed down from your ancestors, not by perishable things such as silver or gold,
Realize that you weren’t set free from the worthless life handed down to you from your ancestors by a payment of silver or gold which can be destroyed.
realizing that you were ransomed from your futile conduct, handed on by your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold
knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
For you are aware that you were ransomed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold,
You know that in the past you were living in a worthless way, a way passed down from the people who lived before you. But you were saved from that useless life. You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver,
You know that from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors you were ransomed—not by perishable things like silver or gold,
You were set free from an empty way of life. This way of life was handed down to you by your own people of long ago. You know that you were not bought with things that can pass away, like silver or gold.
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
You know you were not bought and made free from sin by paying gold or silver which comes to an end. And you know you were not saved from the punishment of sin by the way of life that you were given from your early fathers. That way of life was worth nothing.
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value.
For you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible silver and gold from the vain ways that you received from the fathers,
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
You know that you were ransomed from the futile conduct inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold
You know, after all, that you were ransomed from the futile practices inherited from your ancestors, and that this ransom came not through perishable things like gold or silver,
Having da’as that the padut nafsheynu (redemption ransom of our souls) was not with perishable things such as silver or gold when your Geulah (Redemption) was purchased from the Derech HaHevel (empty way of life) handed down to you from your Avot.
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things - like silver and gold from your ineffective lifestyle received by the traditions of the Fathers -
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors—not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
You know that a price was paid to redeem you from following the empty ways handed on to you by your ancestors; it was not paid with things that perish (like silver and gold),
knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers,
You know this. You lived the way your fathers taught you to live, and it was not a good way to live. You were bought and set free from that way of life. But you were not bought with silver or gold money, which can spoil.
witting that not by corruptible gold, either silver [or silver], ye be bought again of your vain living of fathers' tradition,
having known that, not with corruptible things -- silver or gold -- were ye redeemed from your foolish behaviour delivered by fathers,
