1 Corinthians 4:7
Print
For who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou did not receive? Now if thou did receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou had not been given it?
For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?
For who regards you as superior or what sets you apart as special? What do you have that you did not receive [from another]? And if in fact you received it [from God or someone else], why do you boast as if you had not received it [but had gained it by yourself]?
For who separates you from the others [as a faction leader]? [Who makes you superior and sets you apart from another, giving you the preeminence?] What have you that was not given to you? If then you received it [from someone], why do you boast as if you had not received [but had gained it by your own efforts]?
For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you didn’t receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as if you hadn’t received it?
Who says that you are better than anyone else? What do you have that you didn’t receive? And if you received it, then why are you bragging as if you didn’t receive it?
After all, what makes you so special? What do you have that you didn’t receive as a gift? And if in fact it was a gift, why do you boast as if it weren’t?
What is so special about you? What do you have that you were not given? And if it was given to you, how can you brag?
For who makes thee to differ? and what hast thou which thou hast not received? but if also thou hast received, why boastest thou as not receiving?
For who discerns you to be superior? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if indeed you received it, why do you boast as-though not having received it?
For who distinguisheth thee? Or what hast thou that thou hast not received? And if thou hast received, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
Who do you think you are? Everything you have was given to you. So, if everything you have was given to you, why do you act as if you got it all by your own power?
Do not think that any of you are better than anyone else. You received from God everything that you have. So you have no reason to be proud of what you have. It is all a gift!
For who makes you so special? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
[L For] Who ·says you are better than others [made you so important; or sees anything different in you]? What do you have that was not given to you? And if it was given to you, why do you ·brag [boast] as if you did not ·receive it as a gift [L receive it]?
For who separateth thee? and what hast thou, that thou hast not received? if thou hast received it, why rejoicest thou, as though thou hadst not received it?
Who says that you are any better than other people? What do you have that wasn’t given to you? If you were given what you have, why are you bragging as if it weren’t a gift?
Who made you superior to others? Didn't God give you everything you have? Well, then, how can you boast, as if what you have were not a gift?
For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you didn’t receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as if you hadn’t received it?
Who says that you are better than others? Everything you have was given to you. And if this is so, why do you brag as if you got these things by your own power?
For who makes you superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not receive it?
I have used myself and Apollos above as an illustration, so that you might learn from what I have said about us not to assess man above his value in God’s sight, and may thus avoid the friction that comes from exalting one teacher against another. For who makes you different from somebody else, and what have you got that was not given to you? And if anything has been given to you, why boast of it as if it were something you had achieved yourself?
¶ For who makes thee to judge? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, what dost thou glory of, as if thou hadst not received it?
For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
For who regards you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
For who concedes you superiority? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if indeed you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
What are you so puffed up about? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you have accomplished something on your own?
For who do you know that really knows you, knows your heart? And even if they did, is there anything they would discover in you that you could take credit for? Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God? So what’s the point of all this comparing and competing? You already have all you need. You already have more access to God than you can handle. Without bringing either Apollos or me into it, you’re sitting on top of the world—at least God’s world—and we’re right there, sitting alongside you!
For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you received it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
For who sees anything superior in you? What · do you have that you did not receive? And if · you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?
Who says that you are any better than other people? What do you have that wasn’t given to you? If you were given what you have, why are you bragging as if it weren’t a gift?
Who confers distinction upon you? What do you possess that you have not received? But if you have received it, why are you boasting as if you did not receive it?
For who considers you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
For who regards you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Who made you so important? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you have received it, why do you boast as though you had not received it?
Who says you are better than others? What do you have that was not given to you? And if it was given to you, why do you brag as if you did not receive it as a gift?
For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?
Who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you brag as though you did not?
For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?
For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?
For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Who made you better than your brother? Or what do you have that has not been given to you? If God has given you everything, why do you have pride? Why do you act as if He did not give it to you?
For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?
For who prefers you? What do you have that was not given to you? If you have received it, why do you glory as though you had not received it?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?
For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive?
Who is going to concede that you are special, after all? What have you got that you didn’t receive? Well then, if you received it, why boast as if you didn’t?
For who makes you so distinguished? And, by the way, what do you have which you did not receive? And if indeed you were given it, why this ga’avah, this boastfulness as if you had not received it?
For who separates you? And what do you have, that you have not received? If you have received it, why do you boast as though you had not received it?
For who sees anything different in you? What have you that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?
For who sees anything different in you? What have you that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?
For who makes you different? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Is there any reason to consider yourselves better than others? What do you have that you didn’t receive? If you received it as a gift, why do you boast like it is something you achieved on your own?
For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn’t receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
If you are better, who made you that way? Everything you have was given to you. So then, why are you proud of it? Was it not given to you?
Who deemeth thee? And what hast thou, that thou hast not received? And if thou hast received, what gloriest thou, as thou haddest not received?
for who doth make thee to differ? and what hast thou, that thou didst not receive? and if thou didst also receive, why dost thou glory as not having received?
