1 Corinthians 14:8
Print
For if the trumpet give an uncertain voice, who shall prepare himself for war?
And if the [war] bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
And if the war bugle gives an uncertain (indistinct) call, who will prepare for battle?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
In fact, if the bugle makes an unclear sound, who will prepare for battle?
And if a trumpet call is unrecognizable, then who will prepare for battle?
And if the bugle gives an unclear sound, who will get ready for battle?
If a bugle call isn't clear, how would you know to get ready for battle?
For also, if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for war?
For indeed, if a trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
And in a war, if the trumpet does not sound clearly, the soldiers will not know it is time to prepare for fighting.
Soldiers will not prepare to fight unless they hear a clear sound from the trumpet.
If the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
And in a war, if the trumpet does not give a clear sound, who will prepare for battle?
And also if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to battle?
For example, if the trumpet doesn’t sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?
And if the one who plays the bugle does not sound a clear call, who will prepare for battle?
In fact, if the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will prepare for battle?
And in a war, if the trumpet does not sound clearly, the soldiers will not know it is time to prepare for fighting.
For example, if a bugle doesn’t sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?
Even in the case of inanimate objects which are capable of making sound, such as a flute or harp, if their notes all sound alike, who can tell what tune is being played? Unless the bugle-note is clear who will be called to arms? So, in your case, unless you make intelligible sounds with your “tongue” how can anyone know what you are talking about? You might just as well be addressing an empty room!
For if the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
For if the trumpet produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
For indeed, if the trumpet produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare for battle?
And if the army bugler doesn’t play the right notes, how will the soldiers know that they are being called to battle?
Think, friends: If I come to you and all I do is pray privately to God in a way only he can understand, what are you going to get out of that? If I don’t address you plainly with some insight or truth or proclamation or teaching, what help am I to you? If musical instruments—flutes, say, or harps—aren’t played so that each note is distinct and in tune, how will anyone be able to catch the melody and enjoy the music? If the trumpet call can’t be distinguished, will anyone show up for the battle?
If the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
Again, if the bugle gives an uncertain call, who will get ready for battle?
For example, if the trumpet doesn’t sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
For if the trumpet produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
Or again, if the bugle call is unclear, who will get ready for battle?
And in a war, if the trumpet does not give a clear sound, who will prepare for battle?
If, for example, the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will get ready for battle?
Also, if the trumpet call isn’t clear, who will get ready for battle?
Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?
Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?
For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?
If a horn does not make a good sound, how will men know they are to get ready to fight?
And if the bugler doesn’t sound a clear call, how will the soldiers know they are being called to battle?
And also, if the trumpet gives an uncertain call, who will prepare himself to fight?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
Think about it: if the trumpet doesn’t make a clear sound, who will get ready to fight?
Indeed, if a shofar gives an unclear trumpet call, who will prepare himself for krav (battle)? [BAMIDBAR 10:9; YIRMEYAH 4:19]
And also if the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?
For if the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
If the bugle blares more like a clank, who would know to prepare for battle?
For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?
If the war drum gives a sound that has no meaning, then no one will get ready to fight.
For if a trumpet give an uncertain sound [For why if the trump give uncertain voice], who shall make himself ready to battle?
for if also an uncertain sound a trumpet may give, who shall prepare himself for battle?
