Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
148 1 He provoketh all creatures to praise the Lord in heaven and earth, and all places. 14 Specially his Church, for the power that he hath given to the same, after that he had chosen them and joined them unto him.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Praise ye the Lord from the heaven: praise ye him in the high places.
2 Praise ye him, all ye [a]his Angels: praise him, all his army.
3 Praise ye him, [b]sun and moon: praise ye him all bright stars.
4 Praise ye him [c]heavens of heavens, and [d]waters, that be above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.
6 And he hath established them forever and ever: he hath made an ordinance, which shall not pass.
7 Praise ye the Lord from the earth, ye [e]dragons and all depths:
8 [f]Fire and hail, snow and vapors, stormy wind, which execute his word.
9 Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees, and all cedars:
10 Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and feathered fowls:
11 [g]Kings of the earth and all people, princes and all judges of the world:
12 Young men and maidens, also old men and children:
13 Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for his Name only is to be exalted, and his praise above the earth and the heavens.
14 For he hath exalted the [h]horn of his people, which is a praise for all his Saints, even for the [i]children of Israel, a people that is near unto him. Praise ye the Lord.
5 And now saith the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, that I may bring Jacob again to him (though Israel be not gathered, [a]yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord; and my God shall be my strength.)
6 And he said, It is a small thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the desolations of Israel: I will also give [b]thee for a light of the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the world.
7 Thus saith the Lord the redeemer of Israel, and his holy One, to him that is despised in soul, to a nation that is abhorred, to a [c]servant of rulers, Kings shall see, and [d]arise, and princes shall worship, because of the Lord, that is faithful: and the holy One of Israel, which hath chosen thee.
8 Thus saith the Lord, [e]In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and will give [f]thee for a covenant of the people, that thou mayest raise up the [g]earth, and obtain the inheritance of the desolate heritages:
9 That thou mayest say to the [h]prisoners, Go forth; and to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves; they shall feed in the ways, and their [i]pastures shall be in all the tops of the hills.
10 They shall not be hungry, neither shall they be thirsty, neither shall the heat smite them, nor the sun, for he that hath compassion [j]on them, shall lead them; even to the springs of water shall he drive them.
11 And I will make all my mountains, as a way, and my paths shall be exalted.
12 Behold, these shall come from far: and lo, these from the North and from the West, and these from the land of [k]Sinim.
13 Rejoice, O [l]heavens; and be joyful, O earth; burst forth into praise, O mountains; for God hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
14 But Zion said, The Lord hath [m]forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? though they should forget, yet will I not forget thee.
46 ¶ [a](A)While he yet spake to the multitude, behold, his mother, and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
48 But he answered, and said to him that told him, Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?
49 [b]And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples and said, Behold my mother, and my brethren.
50 For whosoever shall do my Father’s will which is in heaven, the same is my brother and sister and mother.
