Psalm 89:1-4

89 1 With many words doth the Prophet praise the goodness of God, 23 For his testament and covenant, that he had made between him and his elect by Jesus Christ the son of David. 38 Then doth he complain of the great ruin, and desolation of the kingdom of David, so that to the outward appearance the promise was broken. 46 Finally, he prayeth to be delivered from his afflictions, making mention of the shortness of man’s life, and confirming himself by God’s promise.

A Psalm to give instruction, of Ethan the Ezrahite.

I will [a]sing the mercies of the Lord forever: with my mouth will I declare thy truth from generation to generation.

For I [b]said, Mercy shall be set up forever: thy truth shalt thou [c]stablish in the very heavens.

[d]I have made a covenant with my chosen: I have sworn to David my servant,

Thy seed will I stablish forever, and set up thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.

Psalm 89:19-26

19 Thou spakest then in a vision unto [a]thine Holy one, and saidest, I have laid help upon one that is [b]mighty: I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

20 I have found David my servant: with mine holy oil have I anointed him.

21 Therefore mine hand shall be established with him, and mine arm shall strengthen him.

22 The enemy shall not oppress him, neither shall the wicked hurt him.

23 But I will [c]destroy his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

24 My truth also and my [d]mercy shall be with him, and in my Name shall his [e]horn be exalted.

25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the [f]floods.

26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my [g]Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

2 Samuel 6:1-11

3 The Ark is brought forth of the house of Abinadab. 7 Uzzah is stricken, and dieth. 14 David danceth before it, 16 and is therefore despised of his wife Michal.

Again David gathered together all the [a]chosen men of Israel, even thirty thousand

(A)And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from [b]Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the Ark of God, whose Name is called by the Name of the Lord of hosts, that dwelleth upon it between the Cherubims.

And they put the Ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, that was in [c]Gibeah. And Uzzah and Ahio the sons of Abinadab did drive the new cart.

And when they brought the Ark of God out of the house of (B)Abinadab, that was at Gibeah, Ahio went before the Ark.

And David and all the house of Israel [d]played before the Lord on all instruments made of fir, and on harps, and on Psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

(C)And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put his hand to the Ark of God, and held it: for the oxen did shake it.

And the Lord was very wroth with Uzzah, and God [e]smote him in the same place for his fault, and there he died by the Ark of God.

And David was displeased because the Lord had [f]smitten Uzzah: and he called the name of the place [g]Perez Uzzah until this day.

Therefore David that day feared the Lord, and said, How shall the Ark of the Lord come to me?

10 So David would not bring the Ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David, but David carried it into the house of Obed-Edom [h]a Gittite.

11 And the Ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite, three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom, and all his household.

Hebrews 1:1-4

The Epistle to the Hebrews

The drift and end of this Epistle, is to show that Jesus Christ the Son of God both God and man, is that true eternal and only Prophet, King, and high Priest, that was shadowed by the figures of the old Law, and is now indeed exhibited: of whom the whole Church ought to be taught, governed and sanctified.

2 To show that the doctrine which Christ brought, is most excellent, in that it is the knitting up of all prophecies, 4 he advanceth him above the Angels: 10 And proveth by divers testimonies of the Scripture, that he far passeth all others.

At [a]sundry times and in divers manners God spake in the old time to our fathers by the Prophets: in these [b]last days he hath spoken unto us by his [c]Son,

[d]Whom he hath made [e]heir of all things, by whom also he made the [f]worlds,

(A)Who being the [g]brightness of the glory, and the engraved form of his [h]person, and [i]bearing up all things by his mighty word: [j]hath by himself purged our sins: and [k]sitteth at the right hand of the Majesty in the highest places,

[l]And is made so much more excellent than the Angels, inasmuch as he hath obtained a more excellent [m]Name than they.
