Psalm 133

Psalm 133[a]

A song of ascents;[b] by David.

133 Look! How good and how pleasant it is
when brothers truly live in unity.[c]
It is like fine oil poured on the head,
which flows down the beard[d]
Aaron’s beard,
and then flows down his garments.[e]
It is like the dew of Hermon,[f]
which flows down upon the hills of Zion.[g]
Indeed,[h] that is where the Lord has decreed
a blessing will be available—eternal life.[i]

Genesis 41:37-57

37 This advice made sense to Pharaoh and all his officials.[a] 38 So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find a man like Joseph,[b] one in whom the Spirit of God is present?”[c] 39 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has enabled you to know all this, there is no one as wise and discerning[d] as you are! 40 You will oversee my household, and all my people will submit to your commands.[e] Only I, the king, will be greater than you.[f]

41 “See here,” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I place[g] you in authority over all the land of Egypt.”[h] 42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his own hand and put it on Joseph’s. He clothed him with fine linen[i] clothes and put a gold chain around his neck. 43 Pharaoh[j] had him ride in the chariot used by his second-in-command,[k] and they cried out before him, “Kneel down!”[l] So he placed him over all the land of Egypt. 44 Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your permission[m] no one[n] will move his hand or his foot[o] in all the land of Egypt.” 45 Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah.[p] He also gave him Asenath[q] daughter of Potiphera, priest of On,[r] to be his wife. So Joseph took charge of[s] all the land of Egypt.

46 Now Joseph was 30 years old[t] when he began serving[u] Pharaoh king of Egypt. Joseph was commissioned by[v] Pharaoh and was in charge of[w] all the land of Egypt. 47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced large, bountiful harvests.[x] 48 Joseph[y] collected all the excess food[z] in the land of Egypt during the seven years and stored it in the cities.[aa] In every city he put the food gathered from the fields around it. 49 Joseph stored up a vast amount of grain, like the sand of the sea,[ab] until he stopped measuring it because it was impossible to measure.

50 Two sons were born to Joseph before the famine came.[ac] Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, was their mother.[ad] 51 Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh,[ae] saying,[af] “Certainly[ag] God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s house.” 52 He named the second child Ephraim,[ah] saying,[ai] “Certainly[aj] God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”

53 The seven years of abundance in the land of Egypt came to an end. 54 Then the seven years of famine began,[ak] just as Joseph had predicted. There was famine in all the other lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was food. 55 When all the land of Egypt experienced the famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for food. Pharaoh said to all the people of Egypt,[al] “Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells you.”

56 While the famine was over all the earth,[am] Joseph opened the storehouses[an] and sold grain to the Egyptians. The famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt. 57 People from every country[ao] came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain because the famine was severe throughout the earth.

Acts 14:19-28

19 But Jews came from Antioch[a] and Iconium,[b] and after winning[c] the crowds over, they stoned[d] Paul and dragged him out of the city, presuming him to be dead. 20 But after the disciples had surrounded him, he got up and went back[e] into the city. On[f] the next day he left with Barnabas for Derbe.[g]

Paul and Barnabas Return to Antioch in Syria

21 After they had proclaimed the good news in that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra,[h] to Iconium,[i] and to Antioch.[j] 22 They strengthened[k] the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue[l] in the faith, saying, “We must enter the kingdom of God[m] through many persecutions.”[n] 23 When they had appointed elders[o] for them in the various churches,[p] with prayer and fasting[q] they entrusted them to the protection[r] of the Lord in whom they had believed. 24 Then they passed through[s] Pisidia and came into Pamphylia,[t] 25 and when they had spoken the word[u] in Perga,[v] they went down to Attalia.[w] 26 From there they sailed back to Antioch,[x] where they had been commended[y] to the grace of God for the work they had now completed.[z] 27 When they arrived and gathered the church together, they reported[aa] all the things God[ab] had done with them, and that he had opened a door[ac] of faith for the Gentiles. 28 So they spent[ad] considerable[ae] time with the disciples.
