Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
12 What shall I (A)give to Yahweh in return
For all His (B)bountiful dealings [a]with me?
13 I shall lift up the (C)cup of [b]salvation
And (D)call upon the name of Yahweh.
14 I shall (E)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be (F)in the presence of all His people.
15 (G)Precious in the sight of Yahweh
Is the death of His holy ones.
16 O Yahweh, [c]surely I am (H)Your slave,
I am Your slave, the (I)son of Your maidservant,
You have (J)loosed my bonds.
17 To You I shall offer (K)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And (L)call upon the name of Yahweh.
18 I shall (M)pay my vows to Yahweh,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (N)courts of the house of Yahweh,
In the midst of you, O (O)Jerusalem.
[d]Praise Yah!
A Wife for Isaac
24 Now (A)Abraham was old, advanced in age; and Yahweh had (B)blessed Abraham in every way. 2 And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who (C)ruled over all that he owned, “(D)Please place your hand under my thigh, 3 and I will make you swear by Yahweh, (E)the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you (F)shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of (G)the Canaanites, among whom I live, 4 but you will go to (H)my land and to my kin, and take a wife for my son Isaac.” 5 And the servant said to him, “Suppose the woman is not willing to follow me to this land; should I indeed take your son back to the land from where you came?” 6 Then Abraham said to him, “(I)Beware lest you take my son back there! 7 (J)Yahweh, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my kin, and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying, ‘(K)To your seed I will give this land,’ He will send (L)His angel before you, and you will take a wife for my son from there. 8 But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will (M)be free from this oath of mine; (N)only do not take my son back there.” 9 So the servant (O)placed his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swore to him concerning this matter.
35 “This Moses whom they (A)disowned, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one whom God [a]sent to be both a ruler and a deliverer with the [b]help of the angel who appeared to him in the bush. 36 (B)This man led them out, doing (C)wonders and [c]signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the (D)wilderness for forty years. 37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘(E)God will raise up for you a prophet [d]like me from your brothers.’ 38 This is the one who, in (F)the [e]congregation in the wilderness, was with (G)the angel who was speaking to him on Mount Sinai and with our fathers; the one who received (H)living (I)oracles to pass on to you. 39 Our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him, but (J)rejected him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt, 40 (K)saying to Aaron, ‘Make for us gods who will go before us; for this Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt—we do not know what has become of him.’ 41 [f]At that time (L)they made a [g]calf and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing in (M)the works of their hands. 42 But God (N)turned away and delivered them up to [h]serve the [i]host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, ‘(O)Did you present Me with slain beasts and sacrifices (P)forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel? 43 (Q)You also took along the tabernacle of Moloch and the star of the god [j]Rompha, the images which you made to worship. I also will remove you beyond Babylon.’
