¹⁵ Canaan ^[a]was the father of ^(A)Sidon, his firstborn, and ^(B)Heth ¹⁶ and ^(C)the Jebusite and the Amorite and the Girgashite ¹⁷ and the Hivite and the Arkite and the Sinite ¹⁸ and the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite were scattered. ^19 (D)The border of the Canaanite ^[b]extended from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; as you go toward ^(E)Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

³⁴ And Esau was forty years old, ^(A)and he took as a wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and also Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite; ³⁵ and ^(B)they ^[a]brought bitterness to Isaac and Rebekah.

Jacob Is Sent to Laban

28 So Isaac called Jacob and ^(A)blessed him and commanded him and said to him, “^(B)You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.

⁸ So Esau saw that ^(A)the daughters of Canaan were displeasing in the ^[a]sight of his father Isaac;
