1 Kings 3:5-12

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

And Solomon said, Thou hast showed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, [a]when he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee: and thou hast [b]kept for him this great mercy, and hast given him a son, to sit on his throne, as appeareth this day.

And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a young child, and know not how to [c]go out and in.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people, which thou hast chosen, even a great people, which cannot be told nor numbered for multitude.

(A)Give therefore unto thy servant an [d]understanding heart, to judge thy people: that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy [e]mighty people?

10 And this pleased the Lord well, that Solomon had desired this thing.

11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life, neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine [f]enemies, but hast asked for thyself understanding to hear judgment,

12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and understanding heart, so that there hath been none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall arise the like unto thee.

Psalm 119:129-136

PE

129 Thy testimonies are [a]wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.

130 The entrance into thy [b]words showeth light, and giveth understanding to the simple.

131 I opened my mouth, and [c]panted, because I loved thy commandments.

132 Look upon me and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy Name.

133 Direct my steps in thy word, and let none iniquity have dominion over me.

134 Deliver me from the oppression of men, and I will keep thy precepts.

135 Show the light of thy countenance upon thy servant, and teach me thy statute.

136 Mine eyes gush [d]out with rivers of water, because they keep not thy Law.

Romans 8:26-39

26 [a]Likewise the Spirit also [b]helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what to pray as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh [c]request for us with sighs, which cannot be expressed.

27 But he that searcheth the hearts, knoweth what is the [d]meaning of the Spirit: for he maketh request for the Saints, [e]according to the will of God.

28 [f]Also we know that [g]all things work together for the best unto them that love God, even to them that are called of his [h]purpose.

29 For those which he knew before, he also predestinated to be made like to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover, whom he [i]predestinated, them also he called, and whom he called, them also he justified, and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

31 [j]What shall we then say to these things? If God be on our side, who can be against us?

32 Who spared not his own Son, but gave him for us all to death, how shall he not with him [k]give us all things also?

33 [l]Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s chosen? it is [m]God that justifieth.

34 Who shall condemn? it is Christ which is dead: yea, or rather, which is risen again, who is also at the right hand of God, and maketh request also for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of [n]Christ? shall tribulation or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, (A)For thy sake are we killed all day long: we are counted as sheep for the slaughter:

37 [o]Nevertheless, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor Angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 13:31-33

31 (A)[a]Another parable he put forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man taketh and soweth in his field:

32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and it is a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and build in the branches thereof.

33 (B)Another parable spake he to them, The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman taketh and hideth in three pecks of meal, till all be leavened.

Matthew 13:44-52

44 [a]Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hid in the field, which when a man hath found, he hideth it, and for joy thereof departeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant man that seeketh good pearls,

46 Who having found a pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

47 [b]Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a draw net cast into the sea, that gathereth of all kinds of things.

48 Which, when it is full, men draw to land, and sit and gather the good into vessels, and cast the bad away.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The Angels shall go forth, and sever the bad from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

51 [c]Jesus said unto them, Understand ye all these things? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every Scribe which is taught unto the kingdom of heaven, is like unto an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things both new and old.
