Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
92 1 This Psalm was made to be sung on the Sabbath, to stir up the people to acknowledge God, and to praise him in his works: the Prophet rejoiceth therein. 6 But the wicked is not able to consider, that the ungodly, when he is most flourishing, shall most speedily perish. 12 In the end is described the felicity of the just, planted in the house of God to praise the Lord.
A Psalm or song for the [a]Sabbath day.
1 It is a good thing to praise the Lord, and to sing unto thy Name, O most High,
2 To declare thy loving kindness in the [b]morning, and thy truth in the night,
3 Upon an [c]instrument of ten strings, and upon the viol, with the song upon the harp.
4 For thou Lord, hast made me glad by thy [d]works, and I will rejoice in the works of thine hands.
5 O Lord, how glorious are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 An [e]unwise man knoweth it not, and a fool doth not understand this,
7 (When the wicked grow as the grass, and all the workers of wickedness do flourish) that they shall be destroyed forever.
8 But thou, O Lord, art [f]most High forevermore.
9 For lo, thine enemies, O Lord: for lo, thine enemies shall perish: all the workers of iniquity shall be destroyed.
10 [g]But thou shalt exalt mine horn, like the unicorns, and I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see my desire against mine enemies: and mine ears shall hear my wish against the wicked, that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall [h]flourish like a palm tree, and shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Such as be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in their [i]age: they shall be fat and flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord my rock is righteous, and that none iniquity is in him.
3 ¶ (A)If ye walk in mine ordinances, and keep my commandments, and do them,
4 I will then send you [a]rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall give their fruit.
5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto sowing time, and you shall eat your bread in plenteousness, and dwell in your land safely.
6 And I will send peace in the land, and ye shall sleep, and none (B)shall make you afraid: also I [b]will rid evil beasts out of the land, and the [c]sword shall not go through your land.
7 Also ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you upon the sword.
8 (C)And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight, and your enemies shall fall before you upon the sword.
9 For [d]I will have respect unto you, and make you increase, and multiply you, and [e]stablish my covenant with you.
10 Ye shall eat also old store, and carry out old because of the new.
11 (D)And I will set my [f]Tabernacle among you, and my soul shall not loathe you.
12 Also I will walk among you, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
13 I am the Lord your God which have brought you out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen, and I have broken the [g]bonds of your yoke, and made you go upright.
14 ¶ (E)But if ye will not obey me, nor do all these commandments,
15 And if ye shall despise mine ordinances, either if your soul abhor my laws, so that ye will not do all my Commandments, but break my [h]Covenant,
16 Then will I also do this unto you, I will appoint over you [i]fearfulness, a consumption, and the burning ague to consume the eyes, and make the heart heavy, and you shall sow your seed in vain: for your enemies shall eat it:
17 And I will set [j]my face against you, and ye shall fall before your enemies, and they that hate you, shall reign over you, (F)and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
18 And if ye will not for these things obey me, then will I punish you [k]seven times more, according to your sins,
19 And I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heaven as [l]iron, and your earth as brass:
20 And your [m]strength shall be spent in vain: neither shall your land give her increase, neither shall the trees of the land give their fruit.
4 1 He exhorteth them 3 to holiness, 9 and brotherly love. 13 He forbiddeth them to sorrow after to manner of infidels. 15 He setteth out the history of our resurrection.
1 And [a]furthermore we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that ye [b]increase more and more, as ye have received of us, how ye ought to walk, and to please God.
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3 (A)[c]For this is the will of God even your [d]sanctification, and that ye should abstain from fornication,
4 [e]That everyone of you should know, how to possess his vessel in holiness and honor,
5 [f]And not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6 (B)[g]That no man oppress or defraud his brother in any matter: for the Lord is avenger of all such things, as we also have told you beforetime, and testified.
7 (C)For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8 He therefore that [h]despiseth these things, despiseth not man, but God who hath even given you his holy Spirit.
