Yahweh’s Oracle Against Israel’s Enemies

The [a]oracle of the word of Yahweh is against the land of Hadrach, with (A)Damascus as its resting place (for the eyes of men, especially of all the tribes of Israel, are toward Yahweh),

And (B)Hamath also, which borders on it;
(C)And Tyre and (D)Sidon, [b]because [c]they are (E)very wise.
So Tyre built herself a (F)tight fortification
And (G)tied up silver like dust
And (H)fine gold like the mire of the streets.
Behold, the Lord will (I)dispossess her
And strike her wealth down into the sea;
And she will be (J)consumed with fire.
Ashkelon will see it and be afraid.
Gaza too will writhe in great pain;
Also Ekron, for her hope has been put to shame.
Moreover, the king will perish from Gaza,
And Ashkelon will not be inhabited.
And those of illegitimate birth will inhabit (K)Ashdod,
And I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
And I will remove their blood from their mouth
And their detestable things from between their teeth.
Then they also will be a remnant for our God,
And be like a [d]clan in Judah,
And Ekron like a Jebusite.
But I will camp around My house [e]because of an army,
Because of (L)him who passes by and returns;
And (M)no taskmaster will pass over them anymore,
For now I have seen with My eyes.

The Coming King of Zion

(N)Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Make a loud shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your (O)king is coming to you;
He is [f](P)righteous and (Q)endowed with salvation,
[g](R)Lowly and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a [h](S)colt, the [i]foal of a pack animal.
10 I will (T)cut off the chariot from Ephraim
And the (U)horse from Jerusalem;
And the (V)bow of war will be cut off.
And He will speak (W)peace to the nations;
And His (X)reign will be from sea to sea
And from the [j]River to the ends of the earth.

11 As for you also, because of the (Y)blood of your covenant,
I have set your (Z)prisoners free from the [k]waterless pit.
12 Return to the [l](AA)stronghold, O prisoners [m]who have the (AB)hope;
This very day I am declaring that I will return (AC)double to you.
13 For I will (AD)bend Judah [n]as My bow;
I will fill the bow with Ephraim.
And I will rouse up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O [o](AE)Greece;
And I will make you like a (AF)mighty man’s sword.
14 Then Yahweh will appear (AG)over them,
And His (AH)arrow will go forth like lightning;
And Lord Yahweh will blow the (AI)trumpet
And will go in the (AJ)storm winds of the south.
15 (AK)Yahweh of hosts will defend them.
And they will (AL)consume and trample on the (AM)stones of a sling;
And they will drink and (AN)roar as with wine;
And they will be filled like a sacrificial bowl,
Drenched like the (AO)corners of the altar.
16 And Yahweh their God will (AP)save them in that day
As the flock of His people;
For they are as the stones of a (AQ)crown,
[p]Sparkling in His land.
17 For what (AR)goodness and (AS)what beauty will be [q]theirs!
Grain will make the choice men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

Yahweh Will Redeem Judah and Israel

10 Ask (AT)rain from Yahweh at the time of the [r]late rain—
Yahweh who (AU)makes the [s]storm clouds;
And He will give them (AV)showers of rain, the plant in the field to each man.
For the (AW)teraphim speak wickedness,
And the (AX)diviners behold [t]false visions
And speak (AY)worthless dreams;
They comfort in vain.
Therefore the people journey like (AZ)sheep;
They are afflicted because there is no shepherd.
“My (BA)anger burns against the shepherds,
And I will visit punishment upon the [u]male goats;
For Yahweh of hosts has (BB)visited His flock, the house of Judah,
And will make them like His splendid horse in battle.
From [v]them will come the (BC)cornerstone,
From [w]them the tent peg,
From [x]them the bow of [y](BD)battle,
From [z]them every good [aa]taskmaster, all of them together.
And they will be as mighty men,
(BE)Treading down the enemy in the mire of the streets in battle;
And they will battle, for Yahweh will be with them;
And the (BF)riders on horses will be put to shame.
I will (BG)make the house of Judah mighty,
And I will (BH)save the house of Joseph,
And I will [ab](BI)cause them to return,
Because I have had (BJ)compassion on them;
And they will be as though I had (BK)not rejected them,
For I am Yahweh their God, and I will (BL)answer them.
And Ephraim will be like a mighty man,
And their heart will be glad as if from wine;
Indeed, their (BM)children will see it and be glad;
[ac]Their heart will rejoice in Yahweh.
I will (BN)whistle for them to gather them together,
For I have redeemed them;
And they will be as (BO)numerous as they (BP)were [ad]before.
And I will sow them among the peoples,
And they will (BQ)remember Me in far countries,
And they with their children will live and turn back.
10 Then I will cause them to (BR)return from the land of Egypt
And gather them from Assyria;
And I will bring them into the land of (BS)Gilead and Lebanon
[ae]Until (BT)no room can be found for them.
11 And [af]they will pass through the (BU)sea of distress,
And He will strike the waves in the sea,
So that all the depths of the (BV)Nile will dry up;
And the pride of (BW)Assyria will be brought down,
And the scepter of (BX)Egypt will depart.
12 And I will (BY)make them mighty in Yahweh,
And in His name (BZ)they will walk,” declares Yahweh.

Woe to the Worthless Shepherd

11 Open your doors, O Lebanon,
That a (CA)fire may consume your (CB)cedars.
Wail, O [ag]cypress, for the cedar has fallen,
Because the mighty trees have been destroyed;
Wail, O oaks of Bashan,
For the [ah]impenetrable forest has come down.
There is a sound of the shepherds’ (CC)wail,
For their might is destroyed;
There is a (CD)sound of the young lions’ roar,
For the [ai]pride of the Jordan is destroyed.

Thus says Yahweh my God, “Shepherd the flock doomed to (CE)slaughter. Those who buy them slaughter them and are not (CF)held guilty, and each of those who sell them says, ‘Blessed be Yahweh. Indeed, (CG)I have become rich!’ And their (CH)own shepherds do not spare them. For I will (CI)no longer spare the inhabitants of the land,” declares Yahweh; “but behold, I will (CJ)cause the men to [aj]fall, each into another’s hand and into the hand of his king; and they will crush the land, and I will (CK)not deliver them from their hand.”

So I (CL)shepherded the flock doomed to slaughter—[ak]hence the (CM)afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two (CN)staffs: the one I called [al](CO)Favor, and the other I called [am](CP)Union; so I shepherded the flock. Then I annihilated the three shepherds in (CQ)one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also [an]was weary of me. Then I said, “I will not shepherd you. What is to (CR)die, [ao]let it die, and what is to be annihilated, [ap]let it be annihilated; and [aq]let those who remain consume one another’s flesh.” 10 And I took my staff [ar](CS)Favor and cut it in pieces, to [as](CT)break my covenant which I had cut with all the peoples. 11 So it was [at]broken on that day, and [au]thus the (CU)afflicted of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of Yahweh. 12 And I said to them, “If it is good in your sight, give me my (CV)wages; but if not, [av]never mind!” So they weighed out (CW)thirty [aw]shekels of silver as my wages. 13 Then Yahweh said to me, “Throw it to the (CX)potter, that valuable price at which I was valued by them.” So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of Yahweh. 14 Then I cut in pieces my second staff [ax](CY)Union, to (CZ)break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

15 Then Yahweh said to me, “Take again for yourself the equipment of a [ay](DA)foolish shepherd. 16 For behold, I am going to raise up a shepherd in the land who will (DB)not care for those who face annihilation, seek the young, heal the broken, or sustain the one standing, but will (DC)consume the flesh of the fat sheep and tear off their hoofs.

17 (DD)Woe to the worthless shepherd
Who forsakes the flock!
A (DE)sword will be on his arm
And on his right eye!
His (DF)arm will be totally dried up,
And his right eye will be utterly dimmed.”

Yahweh Will Save

12 The oracle of the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.

Thus declares Yahweh who (DG)stretches out the heavens, (DH)lays the foundation of the earth, and (DI)forms the spirit of man within him, “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a (DJ)cup [az]that causes reeling to all the peoples all around. Now the one in siege against Jerusalem will also be against (DK)Judah. But it will be in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a heavy (DL)stone for all the peoples; all who heave it up will be (DM)severely [ba]injured. And all the (DN)nations of the earth will be gathered against it. In that day,” declares Yahweh, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will open my eyes to watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘[bb]A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through Yahweh of hosts, their God.’

“In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a (DO)fiery laver among pieces of wood and a fiery torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem will again be (DP)inhabited in its own place—in Jerusalem. Yahweh also will (DQ)save the tents of Judah first so that the glory of the house of (DR)David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah. In that day Yahweh will (DS)defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who (DT)stumbles among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like (DU)God, like the (DV)angel of Yahweh before them. And it will be in that day, that I will (DW)seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Mourning for the Pierced One

10 “And I will (DX)pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem [bc]the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have (DY)pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one (DZ)mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. 11 In that day there will be great (EA)mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the [bd]plain of [be]Megiddo. 12 And the land will mourn, each family alone; the family of the house of David alone and their wives alone; the family of the house of Nathan alone and their wives alone; 13 the family of the house of Levi alone and their wives alone; the family of the Shimeites alone and their wives alone; 14 all the families that remain, each family alone and their wives alone.

Revelation 20

Christ’s Thousand Year Reign

20 Then I saw (A)an angel coming down from heaven, having the (B)key of the abyss and a great chain [a]in his hand. And he laid hold of the (C)dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and (D)bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the (E)abyss, and shut it and (F)sealed it over him, so that he would (G)not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were finished. After these things he must be released for a short time.

Then I saw (H)thrones, and (I)they sat on them, and (J)judgment was given to them. And I saw (K)the souls of those who had been beheaded because of [b]their (L)witness of Jesus and because of the word of God, and who also had not (M)worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the (N)mark on their forehead and on their hand. And they (O)came to life and (P)reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished. (Q)This is the first resurrection. (R)Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over these the (S)second death has no authority, but they will be (T)priests of God and of Christ and will (U)reign with Him for a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

And when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be (V)released from his prison, and will come out to (W)deceive the nations which are in the (X)four corners of the earth, (Y)Gog and Magog, to (Z)gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the (AA)sand of the [c]seashore. And they (AB)came up on the [d]broad plain of the earth and surrounded the (AC)camp of the saints and the (AD)beloved city, and (AE)fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And (AF)the devil who (AG)deceived them was thrown into the (AH)lake of fire and [e]brimstone, where the (AI)beast and the (AJ)false prophet are also, and they will be (AK)tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment

11 Then I saw a great white (AL)throne and Him who sits upon it, from whose [f]presence (AM)earth and heaven fled away, and (AN)no place was found for them. 12 Then I saw the dead, the (AO)great and the small, standing before the throne, and [g](AP)books were opened; and another [h]book was opened, which is (AQ)the book of life. And the dead (AR)were judged from the things which were written in the [i]books, (AS)according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and (AT)death and Hades (AU)gave up the dead which were in them, and they were judged, every one of them (AV)according to their deeds. 14 Then (AW)death and Hades were thrown into (AX)the lake of fire. This is the (AY)second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if [j]anyone’s name was not found written in (AZ)the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
