Yahweh’s Case Against His People

[a](A)Listen now to what Yahweh is saying,

“Arise, plead your case [b]before the mountains,
And let the hills [c](B)listen to your voice.
[d](C)Listen, you mountains, to the case of Yahweh,
And you enduring (D)foundations of the earth,
Because (E)Yahweh has a case against His people;
Even with Israel He will reprove.
(F)My people, (G)what have I done to you,
And (H)how have I wearied you? Answer Me.
Indeed, I (I)brought you up from the land of Egypt
And (J)ransomed you from the house of slavery,
And I sent before you (K)Moses, Aaron, and (L)Miriam.
My people, remember now
What (M)Balak king of Moab counseled
And what Balaam son of Beor answered him,
And from (N)Shittim to (O)Gilgal,
So [e]that you might know the (P)righteous acts of Yahweh.”

What Yahweh Requires

(Q)With what shall I come before Yahweh
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come before Him with (R)burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
Is Yahweh pleased with (S)thousands of rams,
With ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my (T)firstborn for my transgression,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has (U)told you, O man, what is good;
And (V)what does Yahweh require of you
But to (W)do justice, to (X)love lovingkindness,
And to walk [f](Y)humbly with your God?

The voice of Yahweh will call to the city—
And it is sound wisdom to fear Your name:
“Hear, O tribe. Who even has appointed [g]its time?
10 Is there yet a man in the wicked house,
Along with treasures of (Z)wickedness,
And a [h](AA)short measure which is cursed?
11 Can I purify wicked (AB)scales
And a bag of deceptive weights?
12 For the rich men of [i]the city are full of (AC)violence,
And her inhabitants speak (AD)lies,
And their (AE)tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13 So also I will make you (AF)sick, striking you down,
(AG)Desolating you because of your sins.
14 You will eat, but you will (AH)not be satisfied,
And your [j]vileness will be in your midst.
And you will try to remove something for safekeeping,
But you will (AI)not cause anything to escape,
And that which you do have escape, I will give to the sword.
15 You will sow but you will (AJ)not reap.
You will tread the olive but will not anoint yourself with oil;
And the grapes, but you will (AK)not drink wine.
16 The statutes of (AL)Omri
And all the works of the house of (AM)Ahab are kept;
And in their counsels you (AN)walk.
Therefore I will give you up as (AO)an object of horror
And [k]your inhabitants as an (AP)object of hissing,
And you will bear the (AQ)reproach of My people.”

There Is No Upright Person

Woe is me! For I am
Like the fruit pickers, like the (AR)grape gatherers.
There is not a cluster of grapes to eat,
Or a (AS)first-ripe fig which my soul desires.
The [l]holy one has (AT)perished from the land,
And there is no upright person among men.
All of them lie in wait for (AU)bloodshed;
Each of them hunts the other with a (AV)net.
Concerning evil, both hands do it (AW)well.
The prince asks, also the judge, for a (AX)payment,
And a great man speaks the craving of his soul;
So they weave it together.
The best of them is like a (AY)briar,
The most upright like a (AZ)thorn hedge.
The day when you post your watchmen,
Your (BA)punishment will come.
[m]At that time their (BB)panic will happen.
Do not (BC)believe in a neighbor;
Do not have confidence in a close companion.
From her who lies in your bosom
Guard the openings of your mouth.
For (BD)son treats father as a wicked fool;
Daughter rises up against her mother,
Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
(BE)A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

Yahweh Is a Light for Me

But as for me, I will (BF)watch expectantly for Yahweh;
I will (BG)wait for the God of my salvation.
My (BH)God will hear me.
(BI)Do not be glad over me, O (BJ)my enemy.
Though I fall I will (BK)rise;
Though I inhabit the darkness, Yahweh is a (BL)light for me.

I will bear the rage of Yahweh
Because I have sinned against Him,
Until He (BM)pleads my case and does justice for me.
He will bring me out to the (BN)light,
And I will see His [n](BO)righteousness.
10 Then my enemy will see,
And shame will cover her who (BP)said to me,
“Where is Yahweh your God?”
My eyes will look on her;
[o]At that time she will [p]be (BQ)trampled down
Like mire of the streets.
11 It will be a day for (BR)building your walls.
On that day your boundary will be extended.
12 It will be a day when [q]they will (BS)come to you
From Assyria and the cities of Egypt,
From Egypt even to the [r]River,
Even from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.
13 And the earth will become (BT)desolate because of her inhabitants,
On account of the (BU)fruit of their deeds.

14 (BV)Shepherd Your people with Your (BW)scepter,
The flock of Your inheritance
Which dwells by itself in the forest,
In the midst of [s]a fruitful orchard.
Let them feed in (BX)Bashan and Gilead
(BY)As in the ancient days.
15 “As in the days when you came out from the land of Egypt,
I will show [t](BZ)you wondrous deeds.”
16 Nations (CA)will see and be ashamed
Of all their might.
They will (CB)put their hand on their mouth;
Their ears will be deaf.
17 They will (CC)lick the dust like a serpent,
Like (CD)crawling things of the earth.
They will come (CE)trembling out of their [u]fortresses;
To Yahweh our God they will come in (CF)dread,
And they will be afraid before You.
18 Who is a God like You, who (CG)forgives iniquity
And passes over the transgression of the (CH)remnant of His inheritance?
He does not (CI)hold fast to His anger forever
Because He (CJ)delights in lovingkindness.
19 He will again have compassion on us;
(CK)He will subdue our iniquities.
And You will (CL)cast all [v]their sins
Into the depths of the sea.
20 You will give [w](CM)truth to Jacob
And lovingkindness to Abraham,
Which You (CN)swore to our fathers
From the days of old.

Revelation 13

The Beast from the Sea

13 And the [a]dragon stood on the sand of the [b]seashore.

Then I saw a (A)beast coming up out of the sea, having (B)ten horns and (C)seven heads, and on his horns were (D)ten diadems, and on his heads were (E)blasphemous names. And the beast which I saw was (F)like a leopard, and his feet were like those of (G)a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of (H)a lion. And the (I)dragon gave him his power and his (J)throne and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been [c]slain fatally, and his (K)fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth (L)marveled and followed after the beast. And they worshiped the (M)dragon because he (N)gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “(O)Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?” And there was given to him a mouth (P)speaking [d]great boasts and blasphemies, and authority to act for (Q)forty-two months was given to him. And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, (R)those who [e]dwell in heaven.

And it was also given to him to (S)make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over (T)every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. And all who (U)dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone (V)whose name has not been [f]written (W)from the foundation of the world in the (X)book of life of (Y)the Lamb who has been slain. (Z)If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 (AA)If anyone [g]is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; (AB)if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is (AC)the perseverance and the faith of the saints.

The Beast from the Earth

11 Then (AD)I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had (AE)two horns like a lamb and he was speaking as a (AF)dragon. 12 And he (AG)exercises all the authority of the first beast [h](AH)in his presence. And he makes (AI)the earth and those who dwell in it to (AJ)worship the first beast, whose (AK)fatal wound was healed. 13 And he (AL)does great signs, so that he even makes (AM)fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men. 14 And he (AN)deceives (AO)those who dwell on the earth because of (AP)the signs which were given to him to do [i](AQ)in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the (AR)wound of the sword and has come to life. 15 And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even [j]speak and cause (AS)as many as do not (AT)worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And he causes all, (AU)the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, that they [k]be given a (AV)mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17 and that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the (AW)mark, either (AX)the name of the beast or (AY)the number of his name. 18 (AZ)Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number (BA)of man; and his number is [l]666.
