Old/New Testament
The Law Will Go Forth from Zion
4 Now it will be that in the (A)last days
The (B)mountain of the house of Yahweh
Will be established [a]as the head of the mountains,
And will be lifted up above the hills,
And the (C)peoples will stream to it.
2 (D)And many nations will come and say,
“(E)Come and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh
And to the house of the God of Jacob,
That (F)He may instruct us from His ways
And that we may walk in His paths.”
For (G)from Zion will go forth the law,
And the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.
3 And He will (H)judge between many peoples
And will render decisions for mighty, [b]distant nations.
And they will hammer their swords (I)into plowshares
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.
4 And each of them will (J)sit under his vine
And under his fig tree,
With (K)no one to make them tremble,
For the (L)mouth of Yahweh of hosts has spoken.
5 Though all the peoples walk
Each in the (M)name of his god,
As for us, (N)we will walk
In the name of (O)Yahweh our God forever and ever.
6 “In that day,” declares Yahweh,
“I will assemble the (P)lame
And (Q)gather the banished,
Even those upon whom I have brought calamity.
7 I will make the lame a (R)remnant
And the outcasts a mighty nation,
And (S)Yahweh will reign over them in Mount Zion
From now on and forever.
8 And as for you, [c](T)tower of the flock,
[d]Hill of the daughter of Zion,
To you it will come—
Even the (U)former dominion will come,
The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
9 “Now, why do you (V)make a loud shout?
Is there no king among you,
Or has your (W)counselor perished,
That writhing has taken hold of you like a woman in childbirth?
10 (X)Writhe and labor to give birth,
Daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in childbirth;
For now you will (Y)go out of the city,
Dwell in the field,
And go to Babylon.
(Z)There you will be delivered;
(AA)There Yahweh will redeem you
From the hand of your enemies.
11 But now (AB)many nations have been assembled against you
Who say, ‘Let her be polluted,
And let our eyes behold Zion in triumph.’
12 But they do not (AC)know the thoughts of Yahweh,
And they do not understand His counsel;
For He has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
13 Arise and (AD)thresh, daughter of Zion,
For your horn I will make iron,
And your hoofs I will make bronze,
That you may (AE)pulverize many peoples,
That you may (AF)devote to Yahweh their greedy gain unto destruction
And their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.
The Ruler Will Come from Bethlehem
5 “[e]Now muster yourselves in troops, daughter of troops;
[f]They have laid siege against us;
With a rod they will (AG)strike the judge of Israel on the cheek.
2 [g]But as for (AH)you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Too little to be among the clans of Judah,
From (AI)you One will go forth for Me to be (AJ)ruler in Israel.
[h]His goings forth are (AK)from everlasting,
From the ancient days.”
3 Therefore He will (AL)give them up until the time
When she (AM)who is in childbirth has borne a child.
Then the (AN)remainder of His brothers
Will return to the sons of Israel.
4 And He will stand and (AO)shepherd His flock
In the strength of Yahweh,
In the majesty of the name of Yahweh His God.
And they will [i]remain
Because [j]at that time He will be great
To the (AP)ends of the earth.
5 And this One (AQ)will be peace.
When the (AR)Assyrian enters our land,
When he treads on our [k]citadels,
Then we will raise against him
Seven shepherds and eight princes of men.
6 And they will (AS)shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,
The land of (AT)Nimrod at its entrances;
And He will (AU)deliver us from the Assyrian
When he enters our land
And when he treads within our borders.
7 Then the (AV)remnant of Jacob
Will be among many peoples
Like (AW)dew from Yahweh,
Like (AX)showers on vegetation
Which do not hope for man
Or wait for the sons of men.
8 Then the remnant of Jacob
Will be among the nations,
Among many peoples
(AY)Like a lion among the beasts of the forest,
Like a young lion among flocks of sheep,
Which, if it passes through,
(AZ)Tramples down and (BA)tears,
And there is (BB)none to deliver.
9 Your hand will be (BC)raised up against your adversaries,
And all your enemies will be cut off.
10 “And it will be in that day,” declares Yahweh,
“(BD)That I will cut off your (BE)horses from among you
And destroy your chariots.
11 And I will cut off the (BF)cities of your land
And pull down all your (BG)fortifications.
12 And I will cut off (BH)sorceries from your hand,
And you will have soothsaying no more.
13 (BI)And I will cut off your graven images
And your sacred pillars from among you
So that you will no longer worship
The work of your hands.
14 And I will uproot your [l](BJ)Asherim from among you
And [m]eradicate your cities.
15 And I will (BK)execute vengeance in anger and wrath
On the nations which have not [n](BL)listened.”
The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon
12 And a great (A)sign appeared (B)in heaven: (C)a woman (D)clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 And she was with child, and she *(E)cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth. 3 Then (F)another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red (G)dragon having (H)seven heads and (I)ten horns, and on his heads were (J)seven diadems. 4 And his tail *swept away a (K)third of the stars of heaven and (L)threw them to the earth. And the (M)dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth (N)he might devour her child. 5 And (O)she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to [a](P)rule all the [b]nations with a rod of iron; and her child was (Q)caught up to God and to His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there [c]she would be nourished for (R)1,260 days.
War in Heaven
7 And there was war in heaven, (S)Michael and his angels waging war with the (T)dragon. The dragon and (U)his angels waged war, 8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. 9 And the great (V)dragon was thrown down, the (W)serpent of old who is called the devil and (X)Satan, who (Y)deceives the whole [d]world. He was (Z)thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 Then I heard (AA)a loud voice in heaven, saying,
“Now the (AB)salvation, and the power, and the (AC)kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the (AD)accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they (AE)overcame him because of (AF)the blood of the Lamb and because of (AG)the word of their witness, and they (AH)did not love their life even to death. 12 For this reason, (AI)rejoice, O heavens and (AJ)you who [e]dwell in them. (AK)Woe to the earth and the sea, because (AL)the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only (AM)a short time.”
13 And when the (AN)dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted (AO)the woman who gave birth to the male child. 14 But the (AP)two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly (AQ)into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for (AR)a time and times and half a time, from the [f]presence of the serpent. 15 And the (AS)serpent [g]poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. 16 [h]But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon [i]poured out of his mouth. 17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman and went off to (AT)make war with the rest of her (AU)seed, who (AV)keep the commandments of God and (AW)have the witness of Jesus.
